Risikofaktoren für Leukämie in Thailand

In Bangkok wurde eine Fall-Kontroll-Studie durchgeführt, um die Faktoren zur Entstehung von Leukämie bei Erwachsenen zu ermessen. Auch der Anteil von Mobilfunkstrahlung wurde in die Untersuchung einbezogen.

Für die Studie wurden 180 Leukämie-Fälle in Krankenhäusern und 756 Kontrollpersonen aus Krankenhäusern mit Krankheiten wie Infektionen und Verletzungen (Alter und Geschlecht wurden abgeglichen) in Beziehung gesetzt?

?die Untersuchung ergab: Faktoren für die Entstehung Leukämie sind Benzene, Lösungsmittel, beruflicher Kontakt mit Pestiziden und Arbeiten an und in der Nähe von Hochspannungsleitungen. Ein Zusammenhang zwischen dem Telefonieren mit Mobiltelefonen und Leukämie ist ganz klar, da der untersuchte Zeitraum zu kurz war. Aber es gibt Hinweise, dass manche Mobilfunknutzer, wenn sich z. B. Metalle am Kopf befinden wie Ohrringe oder Brillen, und besonders GSM-Nutzer ein erhöhtes Leukämierisiko haben. Zur Klärung sind noch weitere Studien mit größeren Fallzahlen durchzuführen.

Krebs durch Funk bei Feuerwehrleuten in den USA

Epidemiologische Untersuchungen zeigen, dass bei Feuerwehrleuten mehr Krebs auftritt als bei anderen Berufsgruppen. Aber nicht inhalierte Karzionegene sind die Ursache, sondern elektromagnetische Felder, sagt S Milham.

Die ansteigende Strahlenexposition der Bevölkerung beim Aufbau von TV- und Radiostationen seit den 1950er Jahren ließ die Zahl der malignen Melanome ansteigen, so auch bei Elektronikern und in Büros, wenn die Mitarbeiter dort starken Feldern ausgesetzt waren. In Kalifornien haben Lehrer vermehrt Melanome, Schilddrüsen- und Uteruskrebs, weil sie vermehrt Funkfrequenzen ausgesetzt sind. Bei Amateurfunkern findet man erhöhte Raten von Leukämie und lymphatischen Krebsarten, bei Polizisten Hodenkrebs und Kinderleukämie unter Hochspannungsleitungen?

?Die Hypothese von Milham ist: Viele der Krebsarten mit erhöhter Inzidenz bei Feuerwehrleuten werden verursacht durch die Einwirkung verschiedener Frequenzen während der Arbeit; im Wagen während des Einsatzes und in der Zentrale.

Zur Überprüfung bzw. Bestätigung der Hypothese meint Milham, dass das größte Problem die Abschätzung der Feldstärken ist, denen die Menschen in der Vergangenheit ausgesetzt waren, und die dann zur Tumorentwicklung führten. Wenn die EMF-Expositionen der zurückliegenden Zeiträume zu den heutigen hinzugefügt werden können, kann man in Zukunft Kohorten- und Fall-Kontroll-Studien durchführen und die Hypothese epidemiologisch überprüfen.

Wie bei anderen Karzinogenen sollten Regeln zur Vorsorge, d.h. Minimierung der Felder, beachtet bzw. eingeführt werden, bevor der endgültige Beweis für die krebserregende Wirkung von elektromagnetischer Felder erbracht ist.

1800 MHz-Strahlung erzeugt Schäden in der mtDNA

In dieser Arbeit wurden DNA-Schäden in Mitochondrien der Nervenzellen der Hirnrinde von Ratten nachgewiesen, die durch mit 217 Hz gepulster Mobilfunkstrahlung hervorgerufen worden waren. Die 1800-MHz-Strahlung verursachte die Schädigungen durch Bildung von raktiven oxidativen Substanzen (ROS), die verantwortlich sind für verschiedene Krankheiten im Nervensystem.

Eine Reihe von Untersuchungen hat ergeben, dass Mobilfunkfrequenzen oxidativen Stress in Nervenzellen hervorrufen???.

Diese Forschungsarbeit wurde vom chinesischen Staat finanziert.

Unite to Prevent Cell Towers in Residential Neighborhoods

Special BWNA meeting to vote on cell tower

This Thursday, January 28th, the Beaumont Wilshire Neighborhood Association will hold a special meeting to take a vote on whether the neighborhood should formally oppose the proposed Clearwire cell tower at 37th and Fremont. This is an important step in our neighborhood's attempt to stop the construction of a 60-foot cell tower at Wilshire Market.

If you live in the Beaumont Wilshire neighborhood you are entitled to vote on Thursday night. The general public is welcome to attend the meeting as well.

The meeting will take place at 7:00-8:30pm in the library of Beaumont Middle School. (Enter from the north end of the building, then go upstairs.)

If you are available to help distribute flyers to notify other neighborhood residents of the meeting, we would appreciate the help. With several volunteers doing just a couple of blocks each, we will cover the territory in a jiffy.

To help with flyers, please email us at volunteer@respectpdx.org. We'll get you a batch of flyers and map out a couple of blocks for you to cover. It just takes about an hour of your time, and is a great help.

Many parents are ignoring current UK Chief Medical Officers' (CMO) and Department of Health (DH) advice that young children should only use a mobile phone if essential and are buying their young children mobile phones. Six female teasers were taken successively to the male's cage and the copulatory behavior was recorded. Serum total testosterone, dopamine and cortisol were evaluated. The animals of the phone group were exposed to MPs (800 MHz) in a standby position for 8 h daily for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, the copulatory behavior and hormonal assays were re-evaluated.

Mounts without ejaculation were the main mounts in the phone group and its duration and frequency increased significantly compared with the controls, whereas the reverse was observed in its mounts with ejaculation. Ejaculation frequency dropped significantly, biting/grasping against teasers increased notably and mounting latency in accumulated means from the first to the fourth teasers were noted in the phone group. The hormonal assays did not show any significant differences between the study groups.

Therefore, the pulsed radiofrequency emitted by a conventional MP, which was kept on a standby position, could affect the sexual behavior in the rabbit.

If mobile-phone electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are hazardous, as suggested in the literature, processes or mechanisms must exist that allow the body to detect the fields. We hypothesized that the low-frequency pulses produced by mobile phones (217Hz) were detected by sensory transduction, as evidenced by the ability of the pulses to trigger evoked potentials (EPs). Electroencephalograms (EEGs) were recorded from six standard locations in 20 volunteers and analyzed to detect brain potentials triggered by a pulse of the type produced by mobile phones. Evoked potentials having the expected latency were found in 90% of the volunteers, as assessed using a nonlinear method of EEG analysis. Evoked potentials were not detected when the EEG was analyzed using time averaging. The possibility of systematic error was excluded by sham-exposure analyses. The results implied that mobile-phones trigger EP at the rate of 217Hz during ordinary phone use. Chronic production of the changes in brain activity might be pertinent to the reports of health hazards among mobile-phone users.

Worldwide expansion of mobile phones and electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure has raised question of their possible biological effects on the brain and nervous system. Radiofrequency (RF) radiation might alter intracellular signaling pathways through changes in calcium (Ca(2+)) permeability across cell membranes. Changes in the expression of calcium binding proteins (CaBP) like calbindin D28-k (CB) and calretinin (CR) could indicate impaired Ca(2+)homeostasis due to EMF exposure. CB and CR expression were measured with immunohistochemistry in the hippocampus of mice after EMF exposure at 835 MHz for different exposure times and absorption rates, 1 h/day for 5 days at a specific absorption rate (SAR)=1.6 W/kg, 1 h/day for 5 days at SAR=4.0 W/kg, 5 h/day for 1 day at SAR=1.6 W/kg, 5 h/day for 1 day at SAR=4.0 W/kg, daily exposure for 1 month at SAR=1.6 W/kg. Body weights did not change significantly. CB immunoreactivity (IR) displayed moderate staining of cells in the cornu ammonis (CA) areas and prominently stained granule cells. CR IR revealed prominently stained pyramidal cells with dendrites running perpendicularly in the CA area. Exposure for 1 month produced almost complete loss of pyramidal cells in the CA1 area. CaBP differences could cause changes in cellular Ca(2+)levels, which could have deleterious effect on normal hippocampal functions concerned with neuronal connectivity and integration. For your info a new campaign is being planned now by Arthur Firstenberg, who became an EHS during his medical studies and sued his neighbour for Wi-Fi, the lawsuit was published in the media. Arthur published a journal called "No place to hide" from 1997- 2002 about non ionizing radiation risks. The journal had a lot of original data that could not be found in any other source.
He also wrote a book on the subject. He is sending now letters to more than 2500 people who contacted him during the years (the mailing alone cost him $2000) in an effort to gather people from North America for a new campaign he calls "one of the most important environmental movements of our time...to help create a safer, saner future" with an organization the public can plug into, representing sufficient number of people to influence the policy in the U.S - something like a Sierra Club for EMFs.

He does not use a computer so he cannot send an email. Arthur created a board of ten members of different regions in the U.S with variety of expertise, they help with education and advocay for radiation-clean environment and support for disabled individuals. They want to set up regional chapters throughout North America and create an umbrella group. Since many of the contacts are disabled with little/no income, they won't turn anyone away for lack of money, but they need substantial funds.

They offer for membership - info, access to other members in the same region (voluntary, they don't release personal info to anyone without permission info), referrals to experts, support. Two of the members created the website http://www.cellphonetaskforce.org they have a database searchable by region, with lists of doctors, lawyers and other professionals who are interested or receptive to the issue to varying degrees. He writes that he has an excellent lawyer and a secretary, they work only part time because of lack of budget.

The board wants to put out a newsletter and they look for a volunteer.

Eine [diese] interessante Meldung wird offensichtlich derzeit in der Presse verbreitet, sie liest sich je nach Quelle etwas unterschiedlich.

Für mich ist es schon bedenkenswert, wie hier am positiven Image des Handys poliert wird und zugleich eine neue Käuferschicht erschlossen werden soll.

Es wäre schön, wenn all die kritischen Ergebnisse auch so schnell in die Öffentlichkeit kämen!
