March 7, 2011. During the past year I have become increasingly interested in the effects of microwave radiation on the heart. This interest is based on a number of observations.

Some people who are electrically sensitive complain that they have a rapid or irregular heart beat and feel chest pressure or pain (Eltiti, 2007). We conducted a 'proof of concept' study to determine if we could measure heart rate changes caused by microwave radiation with real-time monitoring. We found that some individuals developed a rapid or an irregular heart beat when exposed to pulsed microwaves (from a cordless phone base station) at levels considered safe by the WHO, FCC, and Health Canada (Havas et al. 2010).

During the past year I have heard stories that children who attend schools with WiFi are complaining of a racing heart while in school (link to video). Two of these students in the Barrie area (Canada) were given heart monitors to wear and one young girl was scheduled for heart surgery because her cardiologist couldn?t figure out what was wrong. Her parents postponed the operation, removed the WiFi in their home, and her symptoms did not return during the summer when she wasn?t attending school.

February 18,2010. Another study by Hardell's group documents an increased risk in malignant brain tumors. Their sample size consisted of 1,251 cases and 2,438 controls. The highest risk was documented for astrocytomas, a common type of glioma. Image on right shows an astrocytoma at 3 o'clock. Authors report an increased risk for brain tumors of 170% with cell phone use and 80% with cordless phone use after 10-years. In a separate analysis the highest risk for astrocytomas was among those who began using mobile phones before the age of 20. For this group the risk increased by 390% for cell phones and 290% for cordless phones. The risk for gliomas and mobile phone use increased with latency time and cumulative hours of use, which suggests a dose-response relation that is apart of the Bradford-Hill criteria for causation.

The results of this study do not bode well for the young generation of cell phone users. Unfortunately, this radiation permates our society and those who use a cell phone are contributing to second-hand radiation such that anyone near cell phone antennas is also exposed to this radiation.

Cell phones affect brain-what about cell towers?

March 3, 2011. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) is considered one of the most influential publication used by the health industries to disseminate information to doctors. Many years ago, it had been used to advertise that cigarets were safe. Pictures of doctors where shown smoking and they often endorsed certain brands.

So when doctors read about a National Institutes of Health cell phone study in that journal that shows 50 minutes of cell phone radiation increases metabolic activity in the brain - it's a big red flag and an unlucky strike against the wireless industry.

Neither Health Canada nor the wireless industry scientists can provide the disinformation that 'non-thermal, non-ionizing microwave radiation has nobiological effect on the human body'! Instead, they now say 'there are no health effects', which is equally false (see study on brain tumors and mobile phones).

When a patient asks their doctor, 'Doctor, is safe to use my cell phone? Can I give one to my child?' The doctor now has a green light to say, 'Well, I just read a study in a very prestigious medical journal that shows cell phones do affect the brain. We don't yet know if this effect is harmful or not, so, until we do, I suggest that you use a cell phone with caution as something that could be dangerous. And I certainly would encourage young people to avoid cell phones except for emergencies.'

This is very important information and I hope that you will challenge your own local hospitals to provide similar facilities. Many hospitals have installed Wi Fi systems throughout the hospital, making them very dangerous places to be. It is much better to start the EMF radiation dialog now, rather than when you may need a hospital in an emergency.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, or IEEE

(By 2010, IEEE had over 395,000 members in 160 countries. Through its worldwide network of geographical units, publications, web services, and conferences, IEEE remains the world's largest technical professional association).

Back in 1983, before cell phones, before cordless phones, before Wi Fi, before antennas were everywhere and before our environment became polluted with microwave radiation and before many 'modern diseases' existed, a large book was published by the IEEE press. The book is 591 pages long and the title is 'Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Radiation', Edited by John M. Osepchuk. The book goes into great detail and describes scientific research which showed many serious biological effects caused by exposure to electro magnetic radiation.

In 1983 the IEEE was obviously very concerned about the health effects of electro magnetic radiation, but what has happened since then? In the years since that time the IEEE has become the organization that sets the standards for electrical, electronic, wireless and microwave emitting equipment that is widely used and is polluting our homes, our businesses and our environment.

Many members of IEEE are earning large paycheques by designing and making equipment that we know is making people very ill. The IEEE appear to be ignoring the mass of scientific evidence which clearly shows serious adverse health and biological effects, caused by electro magnetic radiation. Significant adverse health effects are being caused by equipment operating at levels of exposure which are many times below the guidelines which they say are safe.

Have they lost their morals and sacrificed the health and safety of everyone, for their own profit? Are their actions criminal?

The story below shows the callous way that serious warnings by knowledgeable and concerned people are regarded and treated by the IEEE.

Here's a comment from Don Maisch's book,

'In his review of the IEEE?s data-base, theoretical biophysicist Vladimir N. Binhi from the Russian Academy of Sciences wrote that the IEEE?s dismissal of non-thermal effects was essentially based on flawed reasoning. According to Binhi, the IEEE incorrectly considered non-thermal effects as not possible since they contradict the known laws of physics and evidence for such effects are simply artefacts since they are not replicated in other labs. Where they have been replicated, IEEE considered that they had no significance for human health. Binhi analysed the IEEE data-base used as the rationale for the IEEE standard. Although it contained over 1300 references, a discrepancy is seen between the number of non-thermal papers sited in the IEEE standard compared to a 2005 Swedish review of research on non-thermal biological effects of microwaves. This review, by Igor Belyaev, included 115 references for peer reviewed and published non-thermal research papers, of which only about 25% are referenced by IEEE?s RF/MW standard. Another 85 recently published papers, most showing non-thermal effects, were not included in the references for the IEEE standard. Given this discrepancy, Binhi stated that 'consumers of the electromagnetic safety standards might expect a more attentive and careful attitude to human health.'

WHY OUR URBAN TREES ARE DYING

Congratulations to Niek van het Wout and the citizens and officials at Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands for pointing the finger at cell phone and WiFi radiation as being a major cause of deformations and early death in urban trees. Niek was just a concerned citizen who gathered photographic evidence from all over Europe and conducted simple experiments using an ordinary multimeter to collect information on the effects of the radiation on the electrophysiology of local trees. His results were sufficient to convince both myself and Andre van Lammeren of Wageningen University of the need for further investigation using Faraday cages with WiFi access points as the source of radiation. The work is still ongoing but the initial results show definite detrimental effects of WiFi radiation on the physiology of the trees under test. Their work was presented at a Symposium on Feb 18th, in which I also gave a lecture on the likely biochemical mechanisms underlying microwave damage in general and those on trees in particular. Try as they may, the cell phone operators cannot claim that these effects are on trees are psychosomatic. We are now finding out not just what the radiation is doing to plants and trees but also the mechanisms by which it does it. At least some of these mechanisms may also apply to humans.

Thirty years ago, James Kinn with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Elliot Postow with Naval Medical R&D Command compiled a list of 3627 publications on the biological effects of electromagnetic radiation from 1 to 100 GHz. This 574 page document has been scanned and converted into a searchable pdf document. The references in this document are listed by title and author.
