The Scandal the Press are Ignoring

This week has seen a newspaper scandal of massive proportions involving the News of the World, a large British newspaper.

The scandal involves the 'hacking' of telephones owned by crime victims, celebrities and others.

The editor of the Guardian on a whirlwind week of arrests, political confessions and allegations of deleted emails involving News of the World, which closes on Sunday.

The scandal may place the actions of entire British Press under the microscope during the coming months.

Although the News of the World scandal is big and important and the underlying problems need to be sorted out, it is just minor when compared with the wider'world press' who have failed to fully report the dangers of electro-magnetic radiation and have placed huge populations in great long term health danger.

There has been a widespread, hidden but ongoing course of press 'corruption' for many years. Many newspapers have taken huge amounts of money to advertise mobile (cell) phone companies, yet have kept mostly silent on the known dangers of the radiation from those phones and from the wireless antenna infrastructure that has been developed throughout the world. The World Health Organization has now classed wireless radiation as possibly carcinogenic. The advertising money that the newspapers have receivedfrom these companies, could possibly be described as 'hush money', 'bribery'or 'press prostitution', because there is plenty of strong scientific evidence to show how dangerous wireless radiation really is.

There are many newspapers, radio stations and television stations which are owned by mobile phone companies. The media outlets controlled by parent mobile phone companies that I am aware of, have been very silent on the subject of cell phone and microwave radiation dangers. Their silence is disgustingly bad journalism, which lets down its readers, listeners and viewers and gives them a false sense of safety.

It is ironic that the Guardian Newspaper (linked above) which is proud to have broken the News of World story, has not only provided very little information about the dangers of cell phone radiation, but they have reported several stories which try to trivialize the scientists and persons who have been providing deadly serious warnings about the dangers. Their conduct may in fact be much worse and have more deadly consequences than the News of the World reported actions.

BC HYDRO GIVES CUSTOMERS NO CHOICE!

This letter received today from BC Hydro, June 20, 2011, and clearly states that there is no choice allowed to have a wired meter of any kind, but if you spend thousands of dollars of your own money, your meter can be moved further away from your home! Obviously, this is an impossible choice for the majority of BC Hydro customers, therefore it is no choice at all.

BC Hydro is completely ignoring the following:

1. Those who have medical diagnosis of electrohypersensitivity or other health or immune condition and need to avoid microwave radiofrequency radiation exposure for health reasons;

2. That the World Health Organization reclassified emissions from all microwave wireless devices as a possible human carcinogen on May 31, 2011;

3. That the insurance industry does not insure against personal injury liability claims from exposure to wireless devices;

4. That a home is a person?s sanctuary, and they have the right to choose the poisons to which they are exposed within their own home; nobody has the right to force a toxic exposure of any kind on a person within their own home;

5. The democratic process which brave Canadians fought and died for in two world wars.

Our organization is commencing a Human Rights Action on behalf of those with medical diagnosis of any condition which could be negatively impacted by exposure to regular and consistent wireless emissions (i.e. medical implants, epilepsy, immune disorder, electrohypersensitivity). We are analyzing other options to support democratic process. In the meantime, please attend the Smart Meter protest rally on this Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. outside the BC Hydro building, 333 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver. Thank you for your email. As you are aware, BC Hydro has chosen Itron as the successful vendor that will supply smart meters and related infrastructure for the Smart Metering Program. It is BC Hydro s responsibility to provide safe, reliable power for customers in our service territory. The smart meter procurement process was a highly rigorous effort designed to secure the best possible solution for our customers, while considering our unique operating context.

BC Hydro has relied on the input of several qualified professionals and expert organizations in assessing the safety of wireless smart meters. These include the BC Centre for Disease Control, current and former Medical Health Officers, and reports by independent third parties. We have compared our smart meters to international standards based on precautionary principles and found that we are well within those limits.

I would also like to clarify that Itron?s residential smart meters cannot be wired through a phone line. Itron does manufacture a commercial and industrial meter which can connect through a phone line, but this meter cannot function within the smart metering system that is being installed by BC Hydro.

Likewise, it is not possible for other wired infrastructure, such as Powerline Carrier (PLC) technology, to be implemented in the smart metering system being installed by BC Hydro. Factors such as population density and a highly varied topography within BC also preclude the use of PLC.

BC Hydro currently offers a service where customers can move their meter to another area of their property, at their expense. Customers can arrange to have their meter moved now, and likewise they can move their smart meter once it is installed. To make arrangements for this, customers may call BC Hydro's Electric Service Coordination Centre at 1 877 520 1355.

Monday June 13, 2011 ? The Victoria School Board s Wi-Fi Committee presented their motion on Wi-Fi, which passed at the Operations Policy and Planning meeting. The motion basically recommended to continue examining the evidence from Health Canada and the World Health Organization in spite of the WHO s recent reclassification of radio frequency, electromagnetic radiation as a 2B carcinogen, the same as lead, DDT, chloroform, and car exhaust.

One trustee went on record to say he had heard enough to know Wi-Fi is a potential threat to children and should not be used in schools. The Chair of the Wi-Fi Committee- the SB Treasurer (no conflict there), likened the risk of daily exposure to microwave radiation from Wi-Fi as the same as crossing the street, which we allow our children to do. This is the level of ignorance at times we are up against.

It is far from over though; parents and others will continue to hold school officials accountable until responsible action is taken to protect children.
