The BRAG Ranking is the result of a multi-year study of school children's potential exposure to cell phone antennas and base stations in U.S. state capitols prepared by Dr. Havas and students at Trent University, Canada. Exposure metrics for approximately 6,000 public and private schools were assessed. A composite grade was generated for each school based on 1) how close the nearest antenna was to the school, 2) how many antennas were located within 0.25 miles or approximately 400 meters (the distance within which scientific research documents mental, emotional and physical symptoms in adults), and 3) within 0.6 miles, or approximately 1 kilometer, from the school.
Grades, and rankings, for individual schools, as well as a comparative ranking of state capitols, and the full 173-page BRAG Antenna Ranking of Schools report, are available on an embargoed basis at http://files.me.com/magda.havas/jz62ck .

Health Canada is bought and paid for by the industries they "monitor". If you want to follow the money, check out the petition my husband and I wrote and submitted to the auditor general of Canada. In response no one from Health Canada challenged our charges and, in fact, we were told that funding source does not affect results! I followed up with several ethics commissions in the government charging bias and collusion, and was told that so long as the people reported their associations with industry there was no conflict in interest, even though they were employed by Health Canada. So now you know who funds Health Canada. Unfortunately this most likely is true of all aspects and sections of the department -- I suggest you read Shiv Chopra's book, "Corrupt to the Core."

Background Info: The House of Commons Standing Committee on Health (HESA) is having two days of meetings on the health effects of radio frequency radiation in Ottawa (April 27 and 29). They are accepting testimony from people who are sensitive, doctors, scientists, etc. Both sides are going to be represented . . . those who think this is a non-issue (Wireless industry, Health Canada, Industry Canada and their experts) and those who believe this is a serious health issue.
We have a chance to educate this committee and they might do something about it as they are an overseer of Health Canada.

-Immer mehr Schulen und Schulträger setzen WLAN-Netze ein: So haben rund 120 bundesdeutsche Schulen die WLAN- Lösungen von 3Com bereits im Einsatz, Tendenz steigend.
In der Stadt Unna sind seit 2005 alle Schulen mit WLAN- Netzen ausgerüstet, von der Grundschule ¸über Sonderschulen bis zu Gymnasien.
Die immer wieder genannten Vorteile sind:
WLAN - Komponenten ermöglichen digital gestütztes Lernen jederzeit und an jedem Ort. über WLAN - Komponenten sind alle Endgeräte in einem Raum mit dem Schulnetzwerk verbunden, wodurch eine aufwendige Verkabelung der einzelnen Endgeräte¸ überflüssig wird.
Nach einer gründlichen Diskussion der Studienlage, grafisch gut aufgearbeitet, kommt Dr. Scheler zu dem Schluss: -Damit werden für den Schüler erhebliche Gesundheitsrisiken relevant!
Wie bereits mehrere Studien gezeigt haben, kann sich diese Belastung in vielerlei Symptomen zeigen wie Kopfschmerzen, Tagesmüdigkeit, verringerte Konzentrations- und Problem- lesefähigkeit, geringere Gedächtnisfunktion u. a. (Hug u.a., 2006).
Aber auch Lehrerinnen und Lehrer beobachten heutzutage zunehmend, dass viele Schüler sich überhaupt nicht mehr konzentrieren können, wenn eine Funkbelastung vorhanden ist. Ihre verminderte Leistungsfähigkeit kann erhebliche Auswirkungen auf ihre Noten, ihre Berufswahl und ihre weitere Laufbahn haben.
Dazu kommt, dass bei dauerhafter Bestrahlung diese Symptome chronisch werden und die Gesundheit der Schüler erheblich beeinträchtigen können. Bei der Nutzung von WLAN-Netzen müssen also ggf. auftretende Beschwerden der Schüler sehr ernst genommen werden.
Als Ursache darf die WLAN-Strahlung nicht ausgeschlossen werden.
Fazit: Schulen sollten im Sinne eines vorsorgenden Gesundheitsschutzes bei der Einrichtung von Internet-Zugängen unbedingt auf WLAN-Netze verzichten und kabelgebundene Lösungen nutzen.

Sollen Schulen WLAN-Netze einrichten oder Alternativen bevorzugen?
Schulen stehen zunehmend vor der Entscheidung: Sollen sie WLAN-Netze einrichten oder kabelgebundene Alternativen bevorzugen? Können sie die Zunahme der Mobilfunkstrahlung durch WLAN-Netze vernachlässigen oder gibt es Anlass zur Sorge wegen möglicher Gesundheitsrisiken?
Der folgende Artikel gibt hierzu klare Anhaltspunkte und wesentliches Hintergrundwissen, so dass diese Frage nach derzeitigem wissenschaftlichen Kenntnisstand eindeutig beantwortet werden kann: Schülern werden durch WLAN-Netze erhebliche gesundheitliche Risiken zugemutet, die oft schon nach kurzer Zeit ihre Konzentration- und Leistungsfähigkeit deutlich herabsetzen, was erhebliche Auswirkungen auf ihre Noten, ihre Berufswahl und letztlich ihre weitere Laufbahn haben kann. A 13-year-old from Krugersdorp is doing a school science project on whether electromagnetic radiation (EMR) caused his leukaemia.
Dominique Charlebois decided on the topic of his entry into the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists after reading research that included the work of Barrie Trower, a former British military scientist currently visiting South Africa to spread awareness about the dangers of EMR.
"I wanted to know what caused my cancer. The doctors said it was a mystery," said Dominique.
In the 1970s, Trower was responsible for questioning spies captured during the Cold War.
"Before microwaves were used for cellphones, they were used as stealth weapons. The Soviet Union would beam microwaves into the US embassy to make people ill. You become confused, tired, depressed and suicidal," he said.
Seven years ago, a survey of childhood cancers was done in England, France and Spain.
"They found 130 clusters of roughly 11 children with cancer around each transmitter. By 2006 we had in excess of 200 childhood cancer clusters around transmitters, which is more than 2 000 children. Nearly all the children died," Trower said.
Dominique was diagnosed in December. Two months earlier, a friend and classmate who lived in the adjacent housing complex lost a four-year cancer battle. There are four transmitters in the neighbourhood.
Three are within a 2km radius of Dominique's house, and one is next to his school, 3km away from the house.
Measurements taken inside the house and at the school on Saturday revealed radiation levels to be much lower than the guidelines used by industry.
The problem, according to Trower, is that these ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection) guidelines, which are advocated by the World Health Organisation, are being abused by industry.
The guidelines set a maximum which is a short-term dose that humans shouldn't be exposed to for longer than six minutes. But when wireless technology operators are challenged on health risks, they defend themselves by saying they emit radiation levels lower than the maximum.
Radiation levels were found to be particularly high in Dominique's bedroom. Trower says the most harmful time to be exposed to radiation is while sleeping. Children are particularly vulnerable because their immune systems are not yet fully developed.
Trower advised Dominique to get rid of his cellphone and to stop playing with technology that uses WiFi.
Dominique is about to undergo the last phase of chemotherapy.
"They push as much chemo into your body as you can handle. I'm scared," he said.
