Robert C. Kane "Cellular Telephone Russian Roulette"

Though some of you might know it already or had it in their mail earlier from me, many might not know. I'd be lucky if those who already received the book some time ago would leave a short comment or drop me one I can publish together with the article?

We have the most important book about the hazards of mobile phones online as PDF:

Robert C. Kane ? Cellular Telephone Russian Roulette (Download)

Robert C. Kane had been working as top developer inside Motorola for decades, developing mobile phones. He died from brain cancer a few years ago, not without leaving this planet with a message, which you can find in his book.

(The PDF can be downloaded from the above link)

I am sure this book could help to wake up people.

International Appeal from Würzburg

(Français, English, Deutsch)

?The European Academy for Environmental Medicine (EUROPAEM) invited many renowned national and international scientists and health care professionals to a medical conference held in Wuerzburg, Germany from April 23 to April 25, 2010.

Greatly concerned, participants noted the increasing prevalence of various chronic multisystem illnesses.

At the conference it was impressively demonstrated that these chronic diseases are based on similar pathological mechanisms. Common mechanisms are chronic inflammatory processes influenced by environmental factors including chemical pollutants, biological infectious agents, and electromagnetic field (EMF) triggers.?

Please download the complete Document as PDF in Français, English or Deutsch.

Special thx to Sibylle Gabriel to point us to the important document.

Cell Phone 'Honeymoon' Finally Over?

Sean Arthur Joyce

With articles on the link between cell phones and brain tumours or other cancers now appearing in major magazines such as GQ, Harpers's, Prevention and even Time magazine, it appears the long 'honeymoon' North American telecommunications corporations have enjoyed is finally over.

What I mean by that is that due to the deep level of vertical integration between media corporations who control the news we get and the Big Telecom who are now their major advertisers, until recently there has been a virtual media 'blackout' on such stories.

But as more and more independent scientific studies from around the world demonstrate grave concern with the effects of microwaves on biology, including DNA strand breaks that lead to permanent chromosomal damage, the tide of public concern has become overwhelming.

Some scientists such as Australian neurosurgeon Dr. Vini Khurana are predicting a massive wave of brain tumours between 2008-2012. The problem of course is that medical statistics are often poorly coordinated with overall data, so naysayers can easily claim there are no trend increases in tumours. Yet already it's known that brain tumours are now the leading killer of kids in the U.S. ??

A leading authority on cancer, epidemiologist Dr. Samuel Epstein, has stated that in his view both the Canadian and American Cancer Societies are compromised due to close funding ties with the pharmaceutical industry. So it is no longer enough to simply pull up their websites and rely solely on them for guidance. (See http://www.preventcancer.com )

At the international level, the EMF project at the WHO formerly headed up by Dr. Repacholi has also been criticized for setting microwave exposure standards that are considered by many scientists to be far outside the range of safety. Some have suggested that Repacholi himself is compromised by receiving funding from the telecommunications industry. (See http://www.next-up.org )

Congressional hearings in the U.S. recently heard testimony from Dr. Devra Davis, another leading scientist who has been sounding warnings on high exposure levels in North America. Not surprisingly, there have been no American studies done on the subject since the one headed up by epidemiologist Dr. George Carlo in the 1990s. This $28 million study was part of the telecommunication industry's 'deal with the devil', the FDA; a study they agreed to fund in exchange for being allowed to market cell phones WITH NO PRE-MARKET SAFETY TESTING. When Dr. Carlo delivered his final report to the telecom industry in 1999, noting some serious concerns with biological effects from cell phones, it was quickly buried.

In the final week of April we had a similar hearing in Canadian Parliament, though not quite so high profile, with the House Standing Committee on Health in Ottawa. The Parliamentary committee agreed to hear concerns about microwave exposure standards after Bloc Québécois MP Luc Malo presented a petition with 1,100 signatures asking Parliament to ?protect the public from microwaves.? The petition was an initiative of the Québec group Protect Our Children From Microwaves (SEMO in French), headed by François Therrien.

The Committee heard testimony from international experts, including Dr. Andrew Goldsworthy of the UK, Dr. Olle Johansson of Sweden, Dr. Magda Havas of Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and of course Health Canada's mouthpiece, Dr. Daniel Krewski. The Committee also took submissions from citizens and concerned parents across the country.

Dr. Krewski, who heads up the Centre for Population Risk Assessment at the University of Ottawa, has received funding from the telecommunications industry. He is not the only one on Health Canada's panel of scientists with direct or indirect links to the industry. This is standard-issue influence peddling with government, a typical tactic of industry used since the advent of Big Tobacco.??

To its credit, the Committee has decided to allocate $12,000 to further study the matter. What that study will mean has yet to be explained. Will they finally begin to include the countless international studies showing real risks from cell phone and wireless use? Will they recommend that Health Canada revisit and update its hopelessly antiquated Safety Code 6? Or will Big Telecom trump any real change? It remains to be seen. The marriage of corporation and government has proven disastrous in every sphere of life, from communications to the environment. The current oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is just the latest proof of that. And like any bad marriage, when the honeymoon wears off, it's time to consider exit strategies. Just as the U.S. Congress is grappling with ways to impose some governance on a Wall Street run amok, we must do the same with Big Telecom.

At present, Industry Canada has de facto power over any regional district or municipal government when it comes to granting permission to erect cell phone transmitters and towers. Local democracy is trashed in favour of profit-making corporations. They cannot continue to be allowed to run roughshod over communities who are merely trying to preserve a healthy way of life for their families. "Business is business," true, but not when your product endangers my health or even my life.

Big Telecom, the honeymoon is over. Divorce papers should follow shortly.

Sunday Edition, response

On your April 25th, 2010 broadcast of the ?Sunday Edition?, the 3rd hour talk with Telecommunication Industry defender Dr. Daniel Krewski was as entertaining as an espionage movie. The soft, reassuring tones of Dr Krewski, telling us the Precautionary Principal is not valid in the modern age and repeating Industry?s verse and chorus of assurance and safety. Then there is the confidence in his weight of evidence and Safety Code 6 and all the while, behind the scenes, guess who is receiving Telecommunication Industry funding for research validating their very own Industry. And for humour, add the whole Catch-22 of the oxymoron ?Industry funded?, especially when cloaked under the empty phrase ?weight of evidence?. Guess who is funding the ?weight? in weight of evidence. And what about the evidence smothered under that weight?

Then, lurking in the background is Repacholi. Who?d have guessed the webs of intrigue?

And what is a movie without a sequel?

?When is the report (Interphone Study) going to be released?? asks Michael Enright is a slightly smiling voice. ?If you call me in a few weeks I might even have a date for you Michael? croons the layered Krewski.

Promises, promises, promises.

Dr. Samuel S. Epstein, chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, warns that the American Cancer Society has close financial ties to the makers of mammography equipment. Five radiologists have served as presidents of the American Cancer Society (ACS).

In its every move, the ACS promotes the interests of the major manufacturers of mammogram machines and films, including Siemens, DuPont, General Electric, Eastman Kodak, and Piker.

This bias hypes mammography, which Dr. Epstein and Dr. Rosalie Bertell emphasize is an avoidable cause of breast cancer itself.

According to World Wire:

?Routine mammography delivers an unrecognized high dose of radiation, warn Drs. Epstein and Bertell. If a woman follows the current guidelines for premenopausal screening, over a 10 year period she would receive a total dosage of about 5 rads. This approximates the level of exposure to radiation of a Japanese woman one mile from the epicenter of atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki.?

Do smart meters pose health risks?

ZDNet (blog)

Concerns over electromagnetic radiation and radio waves have prompted the town of Fairfax, Calif., ...

SMART METERS -- NO CHOICE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

To the people in BC, my husband, I and Katharina Gustavs just met with John Horgan, Opposition Energy Critic, about Smart Meters, and we got horrible news. The Clean Energy Act, which has had its first reading and is to be passed this session, exempts smart meters from any public discussion. Also, it is his reading that people will not be allowed to opt out of having wireless connections to their homes. It appears that there are only a few people in opposition to this, and these only on the basis of cost. There has been no cost-benefit analysis.

And because the title is "Clean" and the emphasis is, supposedly, on saving energy by encouraging people to use electrical devices when the power is cheap (e.g. cook dinner at midnight) the Green party is in full support, leaving no real opposition.

The next reading will be in 3 weeks, so I would encourage all BC residents to spread the word, write letters to newspapers, etc. People need to know the problems in California, that there will be higher bills because the rates will be higher during peak hours, the govt. will know when you are using the power not just how much and you will be charged for cooking at 6:00 pm.

This is an insidious money grab and we are being forced into opening our purses, with no chance to debate let alone argue.

Health is another issue, but one which no one will hear. Mr. Horgan made it clear that when I sent him health studies, he referred concerns to Randy Ross, of the Radiation Centre (who helped write Safety Code 6) who said Safety Code 6 is safe and there is no harm from non-ionizing radiation. Discussion closed. I do think Mr. Horgan is open to discussion on this point, but he is more concerned about the fiscal issues. So send your MLAs info. about insecurity, increased bills, etc. and spread the word fast.

Manassas Environmental News Examiner

This week, Dominion Virginia Power dropped a request to the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) to install ?smart meters? at all of its customers? homes in Northern Virginia by 2013.

The utility originally filed its ?Integrated Resource Plan? with the SCC last July. After allowing time for public comments, the SCC had planned to hold a hearing February 16, 2010, on whether to allow Dominion to proceed with the plan. However, last Friday, Dominion filed an amended plan that did not include the smart meter project.

In the original plan, Dominion had requested rate increases that would cover the cost of installing the meters. A major part of the plan, called the Voltage Conservation Program, would have used advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) technology, commonly known as smart meter technology

Smart meters would save energy

This program would have required installing the two-way digital meters in the homes of all of its approximately 2.4 million customers. The meters would allow the company to lower voltage on its distribution circuits by 5 percent during non-peak hours, saving energy for the company, while at the same time saving money for consumers without affecting electric service.

Other parts of the plan that will go forward include a residential air conditioner cycling program, a residential low-income program, a residential lighting program, residential Energy Star® new homes program, residential heat pump tune-up program, residential refrigerator turn-in program, and a residential heat pump upgrade program.

According to the plan, the voltage conservation program using smart meters would have accounted for approximately 75 percent of the energy savings of the plan. The voltage reduction program would have been implemented automatically by the company as the smart meters were installed.

Smart meters are small computers that replace standard electricity meters. Because they can transmit information from the utility to the home and back, smart meters avoid the need to be read by utility personnel or radio-based broadcasting to nearby trucks. They would also allow the utility to remotely switch appliances and air conditioners off for short periods, in order to prevent overloads.

Utilities across the country are testing and installing smart meters, which they hope will help them meet stricter energy efficiency guidelines required by new laws. For instance, the Virginia Energy Plan, set in September 2007, includes a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions statewide back to 2000 levels by 2025. In general, these regulations are a response to the threat of catastrophic climate change, although the science behind the theory is increasingly coming under question.

Questioning smart meters

According to a report in the Intelligent Utility Daily, the attorney general's office and the SCC staff ?both supported the withdrawal of the ?advanced metering infrastructure? aspect of Dominion's conservation plan, having previously questioned the effectiveness of the technology and its high cost.?

In addition to the cost, one problem is customer acceptance of the meters, which some see as intruding on their privacy, or as leaving their home energy systems open to attacks from hackers.

An even bigger concern is that smart meters would allow utilities to charge more for electricity during high-demand hours, generally in the afternoons. The result could be devastatingly high energy bills for those who stay home during the day, including the elderly, the ill, the unemployed, the self-employed, and families with young children.

More field testing before full rollout

According to David Botkins, Dominion?s media relations director, the company has recognized and is responding to concerns about smart meter technology. ?The bottom line is we are not backing off our commitment and belief in smart grid technology, but we are?slowing down and doing more [field testing of]? the various attributes of the technology,? he said in an email on Friday.

The utility said that instead of the full rollout, it will expand its smart meter testing in Northern Virginia by another 30,000 customers.

Dominion just ended a pilot critical peak pricing program in Dec. 2009, in which a group of customers were charged higher rates for electricity used during critical peak demand hours, and which allowed the utility to remotely adjust or reduce the consumer?s use during that time. The company is also carrying out large-scale smart meter projects in Charlottesville and Midlothian, Virginia.

Dominion's Botkins said that the additional test in Northern Virginia would allow the company to add ?an urban setting to go with the mountainous setting of Charlottesville, and the suburban setting of Midlothian.? The smart meter programs in Charlottesville and Midlothian will not be affected by the announcement.

Those of you in Virginia may want to contact your attorney general with information about the health risk posed by the rollout so that appropriate studies are implemented in the study areas. The article does not suggest that health was a factor in this decision, now would be a good time to raise that issue. If you wait until installation is happening statewide, it will be much harder to stop.

Please see http://www.electricalpollution.com for more information about the risks of transmitting utility meters. General information on the health risks posed by radiofrequency radiation can be found there.

Please pass this on to those you know in Virginia.

Dominion?s smart meter rollout delayed in Northern Virginia.

Letter to the Minister

From: Hillar Kalmar
Sent: May-10-10 10:01 PM
To: Yamamoto.MLA, Naomi
Subject: Clean Energy Act

Dear Ms. Yamamoto,

I am writing to express my concern over a provision of the Clean Energy Act which is currently before the legislature. My specific concern is that this piece of legislation, as written, apparently does not give homeowners the choice to opt out of using the proposed wireless meters, which are known to emit radiation that is unsafe. Citizens across North America are concerned about the increased electromagnetic pollution such wireless meters will generate, without regard to a person's age or health.

The California Public Utilities Commission has been asked to mandate providing citizens with the ability to opt-out (refer
http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/EFILE/A/116285.htm ) and included below is a letter from an Ontario resident which details the negative health effects from such wireless meters.

My understanding is that the Clean Energy Act, intended to be passed this session, exempts smart meters from any public discussion and, if this is indeed the case, I think it's disgraceful.

Please do your utmost to ensure that people are given the choice of safeguarding their health.

Respectfully,

Hillar Kalmar

Two types of smart meters

Dan and I thought all of you may be interested in knowing that there are two types of smart meters. The one that is being installed across Ontario that Dan and others are sensitive to and an other type, one that is hard wired to your phone system. Although to date we have not been granted an exemption, our local power company has agreed to install the hard wired non emf meter. They will pay for the meter and we are required to pay $50 per month for the dedicated Bell phone line for the meter. This is a solution that will enable us to live in our home and we will continue the battle regarding the exemption. I am certain that you feel as we do that we should not be forced to pay for the phone line however that issue needs to be resolved in a different forum.

Smartmeters and paid Lobbying

Remembering that Lord 'Smartmeter' Truscott was paid by Landis & Gyr, leading makers of smartmeters, to fix the NuLab. government 's Energy Bill to include compulsory smartmeters -

'38 degrees' has just had a big breakthrough in our campaign to ban secret lobbying. This week the new government announced plans to introduce a lobbyists register. [1] This is a huge win for us. If it's introduced big business will be forced to be more transparent about lobbying. We'll be able to see who is meeting whom, who they're working for and how much they're being paid.

But there are two remaining problems:

* The timescale hasn't been announced. Right now big business is still allowed to lobby in secret. We need the rules passed into law quickly.

* Big business pressure could change the government's mind again. Hours after the plans were announced a powerful group of lobbying firms vowed to fight it. [2]

We've nearly won, but more people power is needed to make sure we ban secret lobbying this year. Please email David Cameron and Nick Clegg now and urge them to introduce the new rules as soon as possible:

http://www.38degrees.org.uk/ban-secret-lobbying-now

38 Degrees has been campaigning against secret lobbying ever since the MP expenses scandal. Back then, we voted on our priorities for cleaning up politics and banning secret lobbying came top. We teamed up with Spinwatch and the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency. Thousands of 38 Degrees members signed a petition to the Labour Government last summer. Thousands more put the pressure on David Cameron in March. During the election campaign we sent thousands of emails to candidates asking them to support a ban on secret lobbying and challenging them on their own links to the industry. Thousands of us working together got this week's announcement.

Our friends at SpinWatch emailed yesterday to say "this would not have been possible without the thousands of 38 Degrees members across the country who campaigned for the register".

Again and again we've seen lobbyists distorting politics. Whether it's the Digital Economy Bill, plans for a new runway at Heathrow, tobacco advertising or arms deals, too often it feels like lobbyists are calling the shots behind closed doors. Let's move fast to make sure the Government turns this ban into law quickly, and doesn't water it down under pressure from big business. Please email Cameron and Clegg now.

Click here to send the new government an email:

Thanks for getting involved,

David, Johnny, Nina, Hannah and the 38 Degrees team

American Cancer Society Trivializes Cancer Risks: Blatant Conflicts of Interest

The May 6 report by the President's Cancer Panel is well-documented. It warns of scientific evidence on avoidable causes of cancer from exposure to carcinogens in air, water, consumer products, and the workplace. It also warns of hormonal risks from exposure to Bisphenol-A (BPA) and other toxic plastic contaminants, says Samuel S. Epstein, M.D., Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition (CPC). Some of the more startling realities in the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) and the "non-profit" American Cancer Society's (ACS) long-standing failure to prevent a very wide range of cancers are illustrated by their soaring increases from 1975 to 2005. The shocking statistics on the vast increase in malignant melanoma of the skin, thyroid cancer, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, testicular cancer, ovary cancer and breast cancer are documented. Criticisms by the American Cancer Society that the President's Cancer Panel's report exaggerates avoidable cancer risk s, reflect reckless indifference, besides narrow self-interest, warns Dr. Epstein. The ACS's indifference to cancer prevention also reflects major conflicts of interest with regard to public relations, Dr. Epstein emphasizes.

Testimony on Radio Frequency Radiation and Health

New Denver area citizens make submissions on microwaves to Ottawa committee.

http://www.valleyvoice.ca:80/

HESA Testimony on Radio Frequency Radiation and Health

Dear Members of HESA,

For several years I have been sending scientific studies to the Minister of Health, and members of Health Canada in an effort to have Safety Code 6 reviewed. I always receive the same letter back which says that Health Canada has reviewed all evidence and has concluded that there is no evidence that Safety Code 6 is outdated or inadequate; that all evidence shows that there is no harm at levels below that permitted by Safety Code 6. This despite directors of Health Canada, including Beth Pieterson, having committed to making revisions should any evidence of harm be presented.

Below is one of many submissions I've made, this with 5 studies showing cellular and genetic damage due to exposure to radiation at very low levels of radiation which are mere fractions of those currently allowed. As you can also see, I have copied various people at different levels in Health Canada and well as the Auditor General's department, asking for someone to take this information seriously. Sadly no one has.

As time passes, more people are becoming exposed to very high levels of this pollutant. What is especially distressing is that when I and others who are concerned try to raise the issue with groups such as school boards and hospitals, they contact Health Canada and are told that there is no danger. Therefore, no precautions are taken such as removing WiFi from classrooms or transmitters from rooftops. Not only is Health Canada not protecting its citizens but it is preventing them from taking steps to protect themselves. It does appear that there is no reason for Health Canada except to give us a false sense of security.

Please consider the evidence presented last week from independent experts and that from other experts which I am forwarding below. We ask that Canadians, especially our children, at least be given the same level of protection from radiation as people in other countries.

Respectfully,
Sharon Noble

The Minister of Health for Canada

Dear Madam Minister,

Last week I sent you the following along with 3 studies concerning the Blood Brain Barrier :
"In June, 2008, I submitted a petition to the Auditor General charging Health Canada with failure to acknowledge independently funded scientific research which, by and large, shows harm from electromagnetic radiation at levels drastically below those allowed by Safety Code 6. I asked for answers, which I did not receive, to explain why many other developed countries, like Sweden, France, Italy, Russia and even China have much stricter guidelines which restrict exposures to 1% of what is allowed by Canada's. The respondent for Health Canada stated, in November 2008, that if/when credible studies are provided, immediate revision of Safety Code 6 would be made, and kept reiterating that there is no evidence of harm from levels of exposures permitted by the code."

Following are 5 more studies demonstrating severe, consistent and irreversible damage to DNA after exposure to electromagnetic radiation at non-thermal levels. Safety Code 6 does not protect against non-thermal radiation, only thermal. Health Canada maintains there are no "credible" health effects at the non-thermal level. Please look at these studies done by independent, non-industry-funded scientists.

1) REFLEX Report, (December 2004) Risk Evaluation of Potential Environmental Hazards From Low Frequency Electromagnetic Field Exposure Using Sensitive in vitro Methods, A project funded by the European Union under the programme "Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources" .

"Twelve institutes in seven countries have found genotoxic effects and modified expressions on numerous genes and proteins after Radio frequency and extremely low frequency EMF exposure at low levels, below current international safety guidance, to living cells in-vitro. These results confirm the likelihood of long-term genetic damage in the blood and brains of users of mobile phones and other sources of electromagnetic fields. The idea behind the REFLEX study was to attempt replicate damage already reported to see if the effects were real and whether, or not, more money should be spent of research into the possible adverse health effects of EMF exposure. They concluded that in- vitro damage is real and that it is important to carry out much more research, especially monitoring the long-term health of people."

2) Diem et al [2005] exposed human fibroblasts and rat granulosa cells to mobile phone signal (1800 MHz; SAR 1.2 or 2 W/kg; different modulations; during 4, 16 and 24 h; intermittent 5 min on/10min off or continuous). RFR exposure induced DNA single and double-strand breaks as measured by the comet assay. Effects occurred after 16 h exposure in both cell types and after different mobile-phone modulations. The intermittent exposure showed a stronger effect than in the continuous exposure.

3) Paulraj and Behari [2006] reported an increase in single strand breaks in brain cells of rats after 35 days of exposure to 2.45 and 16.5 GHz fields at 1 and 2.01 W/kg.

4) Phillips et al. [1998] found increase and decrease in DNA strand breaks in cells exposure to various forms of cell phone radiation.

5) Sun et al. [2006] reported an increase in DNA single strand breaks in human lens epithelial cells after 2 hrs of exposure to 1.8 GHz field at 3 and 4 W/kg. The DNA damages caused by 4 W/kg field were irreversible.

Madam Minister, this makes a total of 8 studies I have sent you over the last couple of weeks all of which show harmful effects from non-thermal radiation. I urge you to send this data to an independent researcher/scientist, one not in Health Canada which has become infamous for its affiliations with the industries it monitors. Please send it to someone who has no connection to the telecommunication industry, either indirectly (using industry journals to publish "studies" to further his/her career) or directly and ask for an objective opinion. If you need references I would be happy to provide a list of names. If you want more studies, tell me how many are needed, 20? 100? 1000? I've got them.

Many people who have worked for Health Canada in various areas have described it as being corrupt, corrupt to the core (as per Shiv Chopra). It is time for this department to be cleansed for the sake of the Canadian public.

I dare Health Canada to look at its commitment to me to amend Safety Code 6 if I provided one credible and to tell me in writing that there is no credibility to any of the studies I've provided.

Failing that, I dare Health Canada to tell me there isn't enough evidence in the 8 studies I've provided so far to invoke the Precautionary Principle, the true Precautionary Principle, not the one that refers to cost implications and risk assessment. The one that says: "When an activity raises threats to human health or the environment, precautionary measures should be taken even if some cause and effect relationships are not established scientifically." If Health Canada will not follow its mandate and protect our children and families as it should, and as other countries have, then Health Canada has no reason for being. That department should be done away with. Currently Health Canada is a farce, and a dangerous one at that. It is your job, Madam Minister, to end what has been happening for far too long -- either bring in reliable, capable, independent people who answer to the Canadian public and not the corporations, or do away with this department.

Yours truly,

Sharon Noble
Victoria, BC

Dear HESA Committee Members,

You are being deceived by Health Canada.

Safety Code 6 is purported to provide protection against both thermal and non-thermal radiation. This what Health Canada keeps saying. But these radiation exposure limits are based on ICNIRP's standards which, ICNIRP will tell you, are intended for short term thermal effects only. (www.icnirp.de/documents/emfgdl.pdf) This is the deception.

I have been told by members of Health Canada and the Royal Panel that they follow ICNIRP's selection criteria, meaning they use the same basis for selecting scientific studies and literature. Also, they use the same causation criteria, meaning they follow ICNIRP's thermal "cause of damage". In addition, Health Canada often states that they follow the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Before assuming that this should satisfy any critical review of Safety Code 6, please read the attached document entitled "Conflict of Interest & Bias in Health Advisory Committees: A case study of the WHO's Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Task Force." This document, which is being submitted with the author's permission, is the result of many years of study by Don Maisch, and forms part of his doctoral dissertation. He explains the close relationship between ICNIRP and WHO, and between WHO and the telecom industries. In contradiction of stated policies ensuring and promising independence, WHO's EMF Task Force has become driven by the very corporations which are being regulated, through allowing their participation in decision-making and through funding members of the Task Force (both directly and indirectly), most notably Michael Repacholi. These same Task Force members are also members of ICNIRP, the very body upon which Health Canada relies to confirm the adequacy of Safety Code 6.

This relationship between ICNIRP, WHO, Health Canada, and the telecommunication industry alone should cause a demand for a truly independent review of Safety Code 6, which must include evidence of biological harm at non-thermal levels.

Obviously, there is a conflict of interest which cannot be denied which has lead to the deception, of which all of us are victims. But there is more to it.

Soon Dr. Maisch will publish his entire dissertation which includes evidence that "risk assessment" and determination of peer-review criteria has been defined in such a manner as to arrive at results supporting the status quo, which allow ICNIRP, WHO and Health Canada to tell everyone "there is no evidence of harm from non-thermal radiation." It is true that they have found no evidence because, based on their selection criteria, studies showing harm from non-thermal radiation have been excluded from investigation. In pure layman's terms, if you don't look for it, you won't find it!

This document supports statements made by several experts during the Microwave Meetings, April 27-29, advising that Safety Code 6 is inadequate and does not protect the public against exposure to wireless devices such as cellphones, cell transmitters, WiFi and DECT phones. I ask that you consider this as evidence supporting our request for a new safety guideline based on independent research showing biological effects, not ICNIRP's or WHO's industry-funded recommendations.

Respectfully,
Sharon Noble
