Smart meters fuel blowout cost fears

The Australian

MORE than $1 billion has been wiped from the net benefit forecast for the nation s first mandated electricity smart-meter rollout. A consumer revolt is also threatening to fuel cost blowouts as tens of thousands of Victorians reject the electricity meters. An independent report into the smart-meter system has exposed the Baillieu government to even more problems, with the system set to blow out in cost to $2.3bn - up from $800 million.

Important Comments Filed

Wilner & Associates has filed comments to the proposed opt-out decision in California recommending an analog meter as a permanent alternative for PG&E s customers opposed to a SmartMeter. Wilner also urges the Commission not to allow PG&E to charge customers that have a medical condition for the opt-out option. So far, the Commission contends that the analog meters are obsolete, and inconsistent with the State s energy objectives.

Cell phone health effects in children

Remember this summer s study about cell phone health effects in children? The study s conclusion, distributed through press releases, was not based on the study s case controlled data. In reality, the study showed that children who regularly use a cell phone have an increased risk of brain tumors.

This article s author, Mona Nilsson, uncovered that the brother of Anders Ahlbom, had been a lobbyist in Brussels for the telecommunications industry for many years. This revelation basically caused Anders Ahlborn to be removed from the WHO s International Agency for Research of Cancer.

As Doctors Use More Devices, Potential for Distraction Grows

Doctors and nurses can be focused on the screen and not the patient, even during moments of critical care, a problem perhaps best described as 'distracted doctoring.'

55 percent of technicians who monitor bypass machines acknowledged to researchers that they had talked on cellphones during heart surgery. Half said they had texted while in surgery.

Should the BMJ retract the update of the danish study, and how fast?

The Editors of the British Medical Journal should immediately withdraw Danish Cohort study

Not only the BMJ

It is not just

1) the British Medical Journal that should withdraw the Danish Cellphone Subscriber Cohort study, the fifth in the series of publications it is also:

2) the Journal of the National Cancer Institute which published the first study in January 2001;

3) the Journal of the National Cancer Institute which published the second study in December 2006;

4) PLUS ONE which published the third study in February 2009, and;

5) the American Journal of Epidemiology which published the fourth study in June 2011.

The media has covered each of these 5 publication with a typical headline, 'Largest study yet find no risk from cellphone use.'

This study is a fraud perpetrated by industry, and that each of these first rank journals published such an obviously flawed study tells us clearly these journals and/or their editors have an agenda beyond publication of science.

The common denominator of each of these studies is that being a Danish cellphone subscriber results in protection for many cancers (including brain cancer with >10 years subscription, neurological diseases, and acoustic neuroma.

If these journals and the selected peer-reviewers truly believe that being a Danish Cellphone Subscriber is such an extraordinary elixir, they should all become a Dansish Cellphone Subscriber if they would like to be protected from this long list of incrediblly serious diseases.
