They are being embraced by educators as important learning tools, but some health experts are warning that tablets and smartphones can have harmful health effects, especially on young, developing children.

Dr. Devra Davis, President of Environmental Health Trust, says microwave radiation from the devices pose significant risks to children.

?The radiation from a cellphone, which is a two-way microwave radio, gets twice as deep into the head of a child as an adult,? she said.

Israel: Leukemia cases in School

Today afternoon on TV it was revealed that 3 girls in the same class in Natanya (the city of Wolf 2004 study) have leukemia, one died. Her mother wants to do a radiation measurement in the school because she has another daughter learning in the same school, but she is not allowed to check the radiation level, although in 35 schools in the same city there were found exceeding radiation levels.

Electronics' noise disorients migratory birds

When European robins, Erithacus rubecula, were exposed to the background electromagnetic noise present in unscreened wooden huts at the University of Oldenburg campus, they could not orient using their magnetic compass. Their magnetic orientation capabilities reappeared in electrically grounded, aluminium-screened huts, which attenuated electromagnetic noise in the frequency range from 50?kHz to 5?MHz by approximately two orders of magnitude. When the grounding was removed or when broadband electromagnetic noise was deliberately generated inside the screened and grounded huts, the birds again lost their magnetic orientation capabilities.
