The below programme looks great, but the question is how it is possible to put WiFi in schools and at the same time to teach the pupils to be careful of radiation. The problem is also as reading Samuel Epstein taught me (he refers to cancer specifically, this is a different case but same principle)- - exposing pupils and at the same time telling them they need to change their habits, is an attitude of blaming the victims.

Interactive education programme for primary schools is going to take place in Israel with the goal of reduction of exposure of the pupils to electromagnetic radiation.

Shoham is the first city where the programme starts this week, about how to use mobile phones with precaution, with 'healthy' [sic] habits of preventive precaution regarding EMR. This is part of the healthy lifestyle year that the education ministry declared on. The target is to minimize children exposure to emr, and is based on the guidlines of the env. ministry and the WHO.

The programme includes basic knowledge about radiation, radiation sources in the pupils env, making radiation measurements and 'healthy' [sic] use habits of the wireless equipment.

The programme is delivered by Life Saver company with healthy cities network and according to the env. ministry's guidelines. The programme was written by Liran Raz, who does a doctorate in Haifa university with professional guide of Dr. Noami Wax from the education school of Tel Aviv University.

The children will receive work pages to do missions at home, in order to assimilate the precaution principles in the community and at home.

Chananit Weiss, manager of the env. quality dept. in the local council of Shoham said that the children will study what EMR is, about the radiation sources in the pupil s env., [and how did it get to their env?...] the difference between cellular and wireless phones, the microwave and the electric quipmemt and will get to know the measurement devices.

The programme is composed of 4 meetings during an hour, Liran Raz will teach them, he said the pupils have an important role in raising the awareness to the subject, by practising at home. At the end they will receive a certificate of 'safe env. from radiation'.

The programme will be presented in a conference in Jerusalem on Dec 15.

The programme is part of the env. quality year in Shoham, initiated by chairman of a guiding committee for 'Shoham healthy year', Amir Taar.

Eine epidemiologische Untersuchung im Südwesten von Frankreich ermittelte die Risikofaktoren für Hirntumore durch elektromagnetische Felder bei Erwachsenen im häuslichen und beruflichen Bereich. Nieder- und hochfrequente Felder sowie die Tumorarten wurden getrennt betrachtet. Die Fall-Kontroll-Studie ergab für bestimmte Tumorarten nicht-signifikant und für Meningeome signifikant erhöhte Risiken. (I. Baldi et al. 2011)

Wirkung niederfrequenter Magnetfelder: 50-Hz-Felder beeinflussen die Chromatin-Konformation

In menschlichen Lymphozyten wird das Chromatin durch 50-Hz-Magnetfelder in seiner Konformation verändert. Die Europäische Umweltagentur (EUA) nimmt am 12.10.2011 Stellung.(?) Sie empfiehlt, in der Politik nach dem Vorsorgeprinzip zu handeln und Vorsorgeaktivitäten zu ergreifen, da die IARC die Mobilfunkstrahlung als mögliches Risiko für Hirntumore eingestuft hat. Dass die Wissenschaft weltweit unterschiedlicher Meinung dazu ist, erklärt man bei der EAU mit dem Fehlen von Wirkungsmechanismen, und man zieht den Vergleich zum Tabakrauchen, wo bis heute nach 60 Jahren Forschung nicht ganz geklärt ist, wie Lungenkrebs und Rauchen zusammenhängen.(?) Da es Forschungsergebnisse gibt, die ein Risiko durch Mobilfunk gezeigt haben, sollte diese Warnungen nicht ignoriert werden, denn der Hirntumor ist eine schwere irreversible Erkrankung.(?)

Das SAGE-Gutachten in Großbritannien

SAGE ist ein 48-köpfiges Gremium in Großbritannien, in dem Teilnehmer der Gesundheitsbehörde, der Elektro-Industrie und von unabhängigen Institutionen (= Stakeholder Advisory group on extremely low frequency electric magnetic fields, ELF EMFs) seit 2004 Empfehlungen erarbeiten. Das 79-seitige Gutachten zu niederfrequenten Feldern enthält eine Liste von Empfehlungen, die besonders auch Kinder schützen sollen. Die Netzbetreiber sollen zum Beispiel die Phasenbelegung optimieren.(?)

Abstract:

Electrohypersensitivity in Sweden is an official functional impairment. According to The National Board of Health and Welfare s questionnaire from 2009, 3.2 percent of the population aged between 18 and 80 answered that they are sensitive/hypersensitive or allergic to electric and magnetic fields, which represents just over 200 000 people. 0.4 percent said they have severe problems. This corresponds to nearly 30 000 persons who receives severe sickness-like symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headaches, problems with sleeping and skin disorders when they are visiting electricity-intensive environments that are not bothering most of the population.

The thesis consists of theoretical studies of radio-frequency emissions and how these can be shielded as well as a survey to investigate how the country s municipalities, social insurance offices and three county councils are receiving these persons.

By the architect-oriented research methodology 'research by design' a proposal for a type-building free from electricity, which also can shield the higher frequencies from the radio-frequency radiation, is designed but not yet built.

The questionnaire survey indicates that persons with the functional impairment electrohypersensitivity very rarely receive the dwelling accessibility adaptation assistance they, according to Swedish law, are entitled to. The thesis shows what can be done by building construction to improve the living for persons with the functional impairment electrohypersensitivity.

During the defense, time was devoted to the general issue about health effects of electromagnetic fields, but of course, the focus was mostly on how building design can reduce or even eliminate the impairment electrohypersensitivity, as well as on various accessibility issues (including the perspective(s) of the Swedish authorities).

The idea to construct a house without electricity I heard for the first time from Mr. Lennart Sparell at the Cancer and Allergy Foundation (which this time also funded parts of Eva-Rut s thesis work). Then I did not realize that the same thoughts were developed at the Royal Institute of Technology, and that I would supervise a highly skilled and independent student towards this very important goal.

During the doctoral dissertation act, the immediate need of continued research was pointed out several times - we all must hope that 2012 will offer just it!

This day, November 13, 2011, I say this about the EMF/health area: Independent money must be spent - now!; independent scientists - without any career considerations or fear of retaliations - must be allowed to investigate this, it must be 'safe' to study 'safe' technologies - otherwise I smell a rat; projects must be funded all the way from start to finish; and if it is 'safe' with all the modern man-made EMFs, these scientists will show it...!

I am tired of waiting for moral and ethical responsibility - it must come alive now! There must be an end to simple-minded political and economical considerations. The public health must be put in the high seat - not big corporate s profit and greed.

'It has been shown that the children s organism is more sensitive to this kind of exposure than the adult one. We have identified the following major trends of the psychophysiological indicators for child users of mobile communication: an increased number of phonemic perception disorders, abatement of efficiency, reduced indicators for the arbitrary and semantic memory, an increased fatigue. A steady decline of the parameters from high values to bottom standards has been found.'
