See enclosed news reports - the UK Government are allowing Vodafone to get away with paying a 6 billion tax bill and they are also allowing the mobile phone industry to gamble with our lives, especially our children.

I've been trying to get an appointment to introduce Dr Devra Davis to David Cameron next week when she visits the UK to launch her book "Disconnect, The Truth About Cell Phone Radiation, What the Industry Has Done to Hide It, and How to Protect Your Family". Dr Davis is a top US scientist and guess what? We are not even allowed to knock on the door of Number 10 to hand deliver a copy of the book for security reasons.

?Over four billion people own mobile phones worldwide, many of those users are children. Can we afford to put their lives at risk?

The UK department of health need to urgently update information and produce public awareness for citizens on the health risks of exposure to EMF radiation.

While other Governments advise children not to use mobile phones unless it?s an emergency, industry should not be allowed to market their products and warning labelling on wireless technology are very important. The Radiation Research Trust advocate public transparency of uncertain risks and their potential implications to public health, so that an informed public have more options to exercise precaution.

Canada: Teacher's Federation has their eyes open on WiFi

Finally something substantial about Wi-Fi has appeared this month in the BCTF (British Columbia Teacher's Federation) Newsmagazine, which is delivered once a month to every teacher and retired teacher in B.C.

"Should Wi-Fi be Used in Classrooms?" is the first of two reports, the second of which will be printed in October. This one is written by Lynn Quiring and has good information and insights for teachers. Page 6. It's only "Wi-Fi 101" but it's very timely. Take a look and smile!

Abstract

Some concern has arisen about adverse health effects of cell phones, especially the possibility that the low power microwave-frequency signal transmitted by the antennas on handsets might cause brain tumors or accelerate the growth of subclinical tumors.

We analyzed data from the Statistical Report: Primary Brain Tumors in the United States, 20002004 and 2007 cell phone subscription data from the Governing State and Local Sourcebook.

There was a significant correlation between number of cell phone subscriptions and brain tumors in nineteen US states (r = 0.950, P < 0.001).

Because increased numbers of both cell phone subscriptions and brain tumors could be due solely to the fact that some states, such as New York, have much larger populations than other states, such as North Dakota, multiple linear regression was performed with number of brain tumors as the dependent variable, cell phone subscriptions, population, mean family income and mean age as independent variables. The effect of cell phone subscriptions was significant (P = 0.017), and independent of the effect of mean family income (P = 0.894), population (P = 0.003) and age (0.499).

The very linear relationship between cell phone usage and brain tumor incidence is disturbing and certainly needs further epidemiological evaluation. In the meantime, it would be prudent to limit exposure to all sources of electro-magnetic radiation.
