I just learned that the Union of BC Municipalities has just passed the motion to ask for a province wide moratorium on the smart meter program until a safe alternative is available. There are many problems with the program, and many of the councillors and mayors had concerns other than health - privacy, cost, lack of democratic process.
An amazing show of democracy. The govt. will try to ignore this vote, but they do it at their peril.

We are coming into an election year and President Obama is pulling out the stops to ensure his re-election. This includes a strategy of allowing people who get 5,000 sigs within 30 days on a petition to be heard by his administration. I have put together a few petitions for the altogether ignored issue of human and environmental health with EMF. Please sign them all (you can copy and paste your info from petition to another to save time). Hopefully they will all get equal amounts of sigs but I have some of the results of the petitions posted on our website and apparently some of these issues are more important to you than others. :). That s fine. They will all get dealt with eventually...hopefully within my lifetime. Please post them on your FB. Tweet them, you name it. Anyone in California who already has a 'Smart' Meter installed, or is being threatened by your utilities that you cannot keep your analog meter, here is something to use to demand to keep or get back your analogs. The utilities keep claiming that the CPUC is in charge and requires us to have 'Smart' Meters, but now the president of the CPUC publicly states we do have a choice.
Please exercise that choice, even if you are not one of the people directly impacted, please do so in solidarity with the injured. Injury from this technology can happen to anyone at anytime, and demanding to keep or get back your analog will help those who are already being injured by the meters.
Anyone who is struggling with this problem elsewhere, the eyes of the utilities are on the resistance in California. Please use this and other resoureces at StopSmartMeters.org anyway you can in your own resistance in other states.

Any attempt to install this device on my property or residence will constitute trespass and a violation of rights afforded to me as a citizen of Canada.
I refuse your wireless Smart Meter on the grounds that it has the capability of being a surveillance system, used by you or other parties, which could violate my right to privacy.
Also: my fundamental democratic right to protect my health from a possible carcinogen, specifically radiofrequency electromagnetic fields emitted by your wireless Smart Meter, supersedes any right you have to install a wireless Smart Meter on my property.
Be informed that I am electro-sensitive to electromagnetic radiation.
You still have authorization to attend at my property for the purpose of reading the non-wireless meter visually and/or manually only.

As an opponent of Smart meters, I am wondering where you stand on having an opt-out program for the meters.
'Smart? meter radiation is a Class 2B carcinogen according to the World Health Organization. UC Nuclear experts say the meters emit at least 100 times more than cell phones. Having one on your house is like living within 500 feet of a major cell tower, according to Sage Associates.Thousands report adverse health effects, yet they are mandatory in Ontario.
I got very sick after moving to our new home. My bedroom was too close to the meter. These meters are marketed to be safe; I did not know I was 'too close' as there was no warning.
Smart meters have caused fires, been shown to overcharge customers, and violate our privacy. People all over the world are protesting. Last week, governments in Hawaii and Maryland rejected the meters. People in British Columbia are organizing to block their installations.
The Ontario Conservatives have promised, 'We will give people a choice to turn their smart meters off.' Please don t make me vote Conservative for the first time.
