A Year Before 9/11, Intelligence Unit Determined World Trade Center, Pentagon 'Most Likely Buildings to Be Attacked'

Während der Sozialverband Deutschland (SoVD) und der Sozialverband VdK ein sofortiges Ende der Benachteiligung von behinderten Menschen anlässlich einer Veröffentlichung eines Gutachtens der Hans Böckler Stiftung zur Neuregelung der Hartz IV Regelbedarfe bei Arbeitslosengeld II und Sozialhilfe fordert, verteidigte die Bundesregierung in einer Antwort auf die Frage der Bundestagsabgeordneten Katja Kipping die Kürzungen von behinderten Menschen um monatlich 73 Euro, wenn Erwachsene bei ihren Eltern leben. Denn statt des vollen bei Hartz IV üblichen Regelsatzes von 364 Euro, erhalten Behinderte lediglich 291 Euro monatlich, wenn sie das 25. An Unending Crisis: America in the 21st Century

Cary Fraser, Truthout: 'For more than four decades, the American political system has been defined by a growing gap between the electorate and the presidency as a symbol of good governance and political legitimacy. It would appear that the serial crises affecting presidents since 1968 have served to entrench a 'credibility' gap within American politics. The report confirmed the growing evidence that the US economy was on a track toward a serious economic relapse, at minimum, or a possible even worse double-dip recession. The stock market went into another tailspin. Bond markets globally reeled. Those trying to downplay the August jobs report noted the August numbers included 45,000 Verizon telephone workers who were on strike and who subsequently have returned to work. That would mean, apologists argued, there were actually 45,000 jobs created last month. Big deal. It takes 150,000 new jobs a month just to absorb new entrants into the labor force. It is important also to note that the 'zero' number was the very best of the various job numbers that might have been reported, not the worst. Other data show the August jobs situation was not stagnant, with no jobs created, but actually much worse. Here s why.'

Der Vorsitzende der LINKEN, Klaus Ernst, kritisiert die ablehnende Haltung von Bundesarbeitsministerin von der Leyen gegen die Einführung einer gesetzlichen Mindestrente als 'ignorant' und erneuert die Forderung seiner Partei nach einer gesetzlichen Mindestrente. Ernst kündigt für den Herbst ein eigenes Konzept seiner Partei gegen Altersarmut an. Er erklärt:

Frau von der Leyen macht Rentenpolitik mit Scheuklappen. Die Ablehnung der Mindestrente ist ignorant. Die Zuschussrente ist eine Mogelpackung. Kaum jemand wird Anspruch darauf haben, weil die Zugangsbarrieren zu hoch sind. Auf Deutschland rollt eine Welle der Altersarmut zu. Wer das ignoriert, gefährdet die Zukunft der Alterssicherung. Es muss künftig eine echte Untergrenze gegen Altersarmut geben. Wir wollen eine Wiederherstellung der alten Rentenformel, damit die Rente wieder mit den Löhnen steigt, und eine gesetzliche Mindestrente, damit niemand im Alter weniger als 850 Euro hat. Wir werden im Herbst ein eigenes Konzept gegen Altersarmut in die Debatte einbringen.

Der Vorsitzende der LINKEN, Klaus Ernst, kritisiert die Rentenpläne von Sozialministerin Ursula von der Leyen als 'Mogelpackung'. Ernst plädiert für eine grundsätzliche Rentenreform und fordert erneut die Einführung einer gesetzlichen Mindestrente. Er erklärt:

Das ist kein Maßnahmepaket gegen Altersarmut sondern eine Mogelpackung. Die Zuschussrente ist keine Mindestrente. Es ist zynisch, den Menschen ausgerechnet jetzt zu raten, ihre Rente an den Finanzmärkten zu investieren. An den Börsen fahren die Spekulanten mit der Rente der einfachen Leute Achterbahn. Wer die Rente über die Finanzmärkte organisiert, der kann genauso gut ein Kinderkrankenhaus auf einem Vulkan errichten. Auf Deutschland rollt eine Welle der Altersarmut zu. Wer das ignoriert, setzt die Zukunft der Alterssicherung aufs Spiel.

Wir brauchen eine echte Rentenreform. Die Rentenformel muss so repariert werden, damit die Rente wieder mit den Löhnen steigt. Außerdem muss es eine echte Untergrenze gegen Altersarmut geben. Deutschland muss wie die meisten anderen europäischen Länder endlich eine gesetzliche Mindestrente einführen. Niemand darf im Alter weniger als 850 Euro haben.Eine Mindestrente würde die Menschen vor den Kapriolen der Finanzmärkte schützen. Wir werden im Herbst ein eigenes Konzept gegen Altersarmut vorlegen.

Den Zuschuss bis zu einer Obergrenze von 850 Euro bekomme nur ?wer im Leben ordentlich was geleistet hat?. Defense Spending: The Worst Way to Make Jobs

As President Obama gives his speech on how important it is for the government and the country to produce more jobs, and as the budget noose starts to tighten on all government programs, including the Department of Defense (DoD) this time, the DoD will flood the Congress with charts and statistics on how cutting the DoD will also cut important defense manufacturing jobs across the US. Each member of Congress will be notified about how many jobs will be cut for any given weapon system, and this is especially effective because the DoD has become the master of spreading weapon production contractor and subcontractor jobs across as many districts and states as possible to get the weapons funded in the first place.... As we drawdown troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, the defenders of the DoD budget, which unfortunately includes the new Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, will want to transfer any money saved back into their favorite endeavor: weapons production.'

But the transformation of the CIA did not simply follow the expansion of the drone war in Pakistan to its present level. CIA Director Michael Hayden lobbied hard for that expansion at a time when drone strikes seemed like a failed experiment. Help Stop Troy Davis' Execution Now

We have just received terrible news: The state of Georgia has set Troy Davis's execution date for midnight on September 21st, just two weeks from today.

This is our justice system at its very worst, and we are alive to witness it. There is just too much doubt.

Even though seven out of nine witnesses have recanted their statements, a judge labeled his own ruling as 'not ironclad' and the original prosecutor has voiced reservations about Davis's guilt, the state of Georgia is set to execute Troy anyway.

Time is running out, and this is truly Troy s last chance for life.

But through the frustration and the tears, there is one thing to remain focused on: We are now Troy Davis's only hope. And I know we won't let him down.

There are three steps you can take to help Troy:

1. Send a message of support to Troy as he fights for justice on what may be the final days of his life:
