That s a shame, because the NAP is what would have saved the world from the Fukushima nuclear disaster, from the BP Gulf of Mexico spill (and worse, the toxic response that followed), from the depleted-uranium-spewing wars and corrupt occupations the United States has been bankrupting itself with in the Middle East, and from other major disasters and systemic risks as well - had it only been widely understood and enforced...

Australia s Institute for Economics and Peace recently released its 2011 Global Peace Index, citing a veritable 'who's who' of peaceful countries. It counted up the savings had the world been at peace: more than $8 trillion last year, and almost $38 trillion over the five years since the index was started. Think of what a country such as the United States - which does not fare well on the index - could do with that kind of change...

Sozialverband: Altersarmut bekämpfen statt Rentenbeiträge senken

Just 18,000 New Jobs in June Leads to Another Rise in Unemployment

Dean Baker, The Center for Economic and Policy Research: 'The Labor Department reported that the economy created just 18,000 jobs in June. It also revised down the previous two months' numbers, bringing the average rate of job growth over this period to 87,000 jobs a month. The slow job growth led to another rise in the unemployment rate, which edged up to 9.2 percent. The employment-to-population (EPOP) ratio fell to 58.2 percent, the low hit in December of 2009 and again in November in 2010. This means that the job growth thus far in the recovery has been just sufficient to keep pace with the growth of the labor force.'

US jobs report disaster

There is zero good news and a ton of terrible numbers in this report. The U.S. economy added only 18,000 jobs in June. - The topline unemployment measurement ticked up to 9.2 percent, but the U-6 number that gives the broadest measure of unemployment jumped from 15.8 to 16.2.
