Hartz IV Urteil: Rechtswidriger Ein-Euro-Job verursacht Tariflohn

Obama s Wrongheaded Stance on Nuclear Power After Japan Disaster

Karl Grossman, Truthout: 'As a candidate for president, Obama knew about the deadly dangers of nuclear power. 'I start off with the premise that nuclear energy is not optimal and so I am not a nuclear energy proponent,' Obama said at a campaign stop in Newton, Iowa, on December 30, 2007. 'My general view is that until we can make certain that nuclear power plants are safe .... I dont think that's the best option. I am much more interested in solar and wind and bio-diesel and strategies [for] alternative fuels.' However, as president, he hired a nuclear power proponent out of the national nuclear laboratory system, Steven Chu, as his energy secretary.'

Playing With Fire in Iraq

Raed Jarrar, Truthout: 'April 9 marked the eighth year of the fall of Baghdad. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis marched in the streets of Iraqi cities - from Mosul to Basrah, from Baghdad to Fallujah - to protest the ongoing military occupation. Although Americans often regard March 19 as the day marking the wars beginning, Iraqis, in general, dont think much of that date.. From their perspective, the war did not start in March of 2003...

Why Our Government Wont Protect Our Rights and What We Can Do About It

Shahid Buttar, Truthout: 'The PATRIOT Act has inspired widespread resentment across the political spectrum. It passed with a single dissenting vote even though most members of Congress have never actually read it. Provisions previously set to expire have been reauthorized three separate times, despite an equal number of Justice Department reports revealing massive and ongoing systemic abuses, including new ones invented during the Obama administration. And over 400 cities, plus eight states, have passed resolutions opposing the federal policy. Yet, it remains in place.'

Budget Battles: Sound, Fury and Fakery

Richard Wolff, Truthout: 'Aiming at the 2012 election, both parties used the deficit and budget debates purely to impress their voters. Basic numbers tell the true story. The current (Fiscal Year 2011) budget spends about $3.5 trillion while receiving $2.0 trillion in tax revenues. The difference of $1.5 trillion (the equivalent of $1,500 billion) is this years deficit. The US Treasury must borrow that from whoever will lend to the US government.. After much hot air, Republicans and Democrats reached a 'historic compromise,' namely a spending cut of $38 billion.'

A Primer on Tax Day Activism

Peter Rothberg, The Nation: 'Because of its symbolic power and resonant history, Tax Day has always occasioned grassroots protests from both the left and right. For decades, the American Friends Service Committee and the War Resisters League have organized volunteers to distribute informational flyers detailing where your tax money really goes and Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn famously organized a tax strike in 1968 to protest US involvement in Vietnam. These days the Tea Party likes to use the day to express what its members argue is excessive federal spending and government run amok.'

In Campaign Mode Now

Ruth Marcus, The Washington Post Writers' Group: 'The official announcement came the week before, but President Obamas deficit speech marked the real launch of his re-election campaign - with the odd spectacle of leaders of the opposition party sitting front and center listening to the candidate. I am not suggesting the speech was a mere exercise in political posturing. The president, in my view, is sincere about wanting to deal with the debt. But he is also realistic about the slim chances of forging a comprehensive agreement before the election, and, you might say, not unmindful of the impending campaign.'

The Corporate Hijacking of Public Education

Crystal Sylvia, Left Turn: 'The premises of corporate education reform are: the main impediments to improving public schools are teachers' unions because they rigidly defend bad teachers; schools need to be run like businesses to make them less bureaucratic and more dynamic; educational experience is not required to be a teacher, principal, or chancellor; the corporate education reform model is the only way public education can be transformed; and success can be measured through data-driven outcomes, with the most important data being student test scores.'

Sehr geehrter Herr Dr. Pfeifer,

im SWR-Tagesgespräch mit Marion Theis am 13. April 2011, 07:07:00

http://mp3-download.swr.de/swr2/tagesgespraech/2011/04/447670.6444m.mp3

http://www.droemer-knaur.de/magazin/Interview+mit+Ernst+Ulrich+von+Weizs%C3%A4cker.4600438.html

'Toward sustainable Production and use of resources: Assessing Biofuels'

http://www.unep.fr/scp/rpanel/pdf/Assessing_Biofuels_Full_Report.pdf

veröffentlicht 2009 vom United Nations Enviroment Progamme (UNEP) aufgeführt:

'?Ein umfassender Bericht von Stefan Bringezu u.a. an das International Panel for Sustainable Resource Management zeigt, dass die Vorteile (von Biokraftstoff) oft überschätzt, die Nachteile unterschätzt wurden?' S. 167

If Obama had kept his campaign promises

Fox News Forum
by John Lott

04/14/11

President Obama pledged Wednesday 'to act boldly now' on the huge deficits. But alas his newly revealed budget for 2012 is no better at cutting the deficit than was his first attempt just two months ago. Yes, we do indeed need to act boldly. With deficits accumulating to $4.3 trillion during over his first three years as president and another $10.4 trillion projected over the next decade, time is not on our side. As it is, the president not only pushed for the increased spending but also has fought budget cuts at each step along the way...

When President Obama mouths off about a 'free society,' you know that the tokenism will be followed by a list of 'liberties' that takes the 'vision thing' away from private individuals, and leaves it to souped-up civil servants and voracious bureaucrats. After BHO took great care to tether his 'vision' of America to the size of state social programs, here is what the president?s vague, debt-reduction plans entail...

Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Truthout: 'Since my initial request to visit Private First Class (Pfc.) I was initially told that I would need Pfc. Manning's approval in order to meet with him. When Pfc. The Buying and Selling of the Pentagon

Part II

Dina Rasor, Truthout: 'I don't believe that the US can make real changes to DoD procurement until we change the incentives of the individuals who work in this corrupt system. All other attempts at reform have quickly been deformed because there are too many careerists who are making money gaming the system - a system that also severely punishes those who don't go along with the corruption. Having worked for decades on trying to slow or close the revolving door to no avail, I believe rather drastic action needs to be implemented. These are not easy solutions, but I am now convinced that nothing else will stop the self-dealing.'

Gaddafi is the Perfect Target

At no time has it been indicated a majority of Libyans support overthrowing Col. Gaddafi, much less back a USNATO war to install a western-aligned government in Tripoli - especially one about which considerable questions are being asked.

Libya: The Law is Clear: It is Illegal to Arm the 'Rebels'

By Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey

Under the UN Charter and Resolutions 1970 and 1973 it would be illegal for any entity to arm the 'rebels' in Libya and in so doing, this would constitute a breach of international law, leaving the perpetrators open to criminal liability. And has anyone researched the history of the 'rebel' movement?

The absurdity of trusting foreign-policy makers

Future of Freedom Foundation Future of Freedom Foundation
by James Bovard

The United States is attacking Libya on the basis of vague hopes that peace will triumph after the Allied bombing ceases. There are plenty of reasons to doubt whether a few hundred cruise missiles will beget harmony in the Libyan desert. But one of the biggest mistakes would be to assume that U.S. government policymakers understand what they are doing...

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is known for being outspoken, but in a Wednesday interview with website The Real News he went a bit further in his criticism of President Barack Obama, arguing that he is more aligned with Republicans than Democrats on matters of deficit and spending. 'Frankly, we need to challenge the president,' he said. ... Kucinich has previously called for a Democrat to step up and challenge Obama for the Democratic Partys 2012 nomination to the presidency, but said he would not be the person to do it...

Stretching all the way back to the dawn of the American empire, when Teddy Roosevelt and his crew of 'progressive' imperialists planted Old Glory on battlefields from Cuba to the Philippines, the pattern of US overseas intervention has repeated itself down through the years. We 'liberate' a foreign people from the bonds of what we regard as tyranny, only to find that the presumed beneficiaries of this policy are lacking in gratitude - and blame us - us! - for their subsequent problems. Pennsylvanias New Jobs Czar Fought Environmental Regulations for Years

Abrahm Lustgarten, ProPublica: 'For years C. Radiation Detected in Milk, Air and Water - Is America Safe?

Mike Ludwig, Truthout: 'Radioactive material from the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan has fallen in rain on major cities across the United States, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The agency has also detected radioactive materials in milk, air and drinking water. The EPA and other government agencies continue to insist that they expected to see some level of radiation on US soil after the Daiichi disaster, and the current radiation levels are not a cause of public health concern. Truthout has identified gaps in the governments data, however, and nuclear watchdogs are concerned that public officials are not telling Americans the whole story.'

Can you afford wars of choice?

Downsize DC Downsize DC
by James Leroy Wilson

04/11/11

The U.S. is fighting three wars -- in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya - even though we are going broke. Each is a 'War of Choice,' not necessity. None of these countries threatens us. Afghanistan did host Al Qaeda, but that crime was punished years ago. So how does the U.S. end up fighting 'wars of choice?' Other countries dont do this...

How government has become suicidal

The Orange County Register
by Robert Samuelson

04/11/11

We in America have created suicidal government; the threatened federal shutdown and stubborn budget deficits are but symptoms. By suicidal, I mean that government has promised more than it can realistically deliver and, as a result, repeatedly disappoints by providing less than people expect or jeopardizing what they already have. But government cant easily correct its excesses, because Americans depend on it for so much that any effort to change the status arouses a firestorm of opposition that virtually ensures defeat...

Government Calls Native American Resistance of 1800s 'Much Like Modern-Day Al-Qaeda'

Vincent Warren, Truthout: 'The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) issued a statement concerning the hearing before the United States Court of Military Commission Review in United States v. Al Bahlul, before its scheduled date of March 17, 2011. Al Bahlul is the first appeal of a Guantanamo military commission conviction to proceed before the Court of Military Commission Review. The case is notable because, in essence, it is a conviction in desperate search of supporting war crimes. But it's also notable for the ahistorical and racist rhetoric in the government briefs that suggest equivalency between Native Americans resisting US takeover of their homelands and al-Qaeda.'

Government should be banned from borrowing

Adam Smith Institute
by Eamonn Butler

04/11/11

For a very long time, it has seemed perfectly natural that governments could and should borrow -- to finance expensive wars or infrastructure projects, for example. Keynesian economists saw the occasional deficit as an important way of managing the economy. But once you give politicians the power to borrow, a huge moral hazard arises. It becomes just too tempting, and too easy, to borrow for the purposes of current consumption, rather than future benefit...

Soziale Energiewende darf keine Sprechblase bleiben
