Geschönte Arbeitslosenzahlen und die Wahrheit dahinter

Wie immer werden die Arbeitslosenzahlen massiv geschönt. Laut offizieller Lesart waren im Februar 2013 rund 3,156 Millionen Menschen erwerbslos. Trotz einer Zunahme von offiziell 18.000 zusätzlichen Erwerbslosen seit Januar 2013 seien die Zahlen ''robust''. Doch wie in jedem Monat werden nicht alle Menschen in die Statistik aufgenommen, die ohne sozialversicherungspflichtige Beschäftigung sind. Besides honing in on the specifics of targeted killing, his attention-grabbing speech served as a demonstration project for civil libertarians, who have struggled ever since the 9/11 terror attacks to protect the Constitution. Just think of all the questions it helped to answer. Could an ambitious Tea Party champion from the South make common cause with a progressive Oregon Democrat? Yes!

Wie arm darf es in einem reichen Land zugehen, ohne dass es zu peinlich wird und ggf. nach gesellschaftlichen Ursachen und politischen Verantwortlichkeiten gefragt wird? Die Beantwortung dieser Frage löst Kontroversen aus, manchmal selbst innerhalb einer Regierungskoalition, und sie hat offenbar einen gewissen Einfluss auf die Feststellung, wie arm es in einem reichen Land tatsächlich zugeht.

Entsprechendes Gerangel gab es um den ersten Entwurf zum 4. Armuts- und Reichtumsbericht (ARB-E alt) zwischen Arbeitsministerin von der Leyen und Wirtschaftsminister Rösler. Dessen Version des Armuts- und Reichtumszeugnisses, das die jeweilige Regierung sich ausstellt, hat das Kabinett nun am 6. März gebilligt. Tenor seiner Präsentation: »Deutschland geht?s so gut wie lange nicht« (Zeit, 6. März 2013). Das ist aus seiner Sicht sicher keine glatte Lüge, doch letztlich eine Frage von Perspektive und daraus folgender Methode, oder, um mit »Macbeth« zu sprechen: »Wie sie lügen mit der Wahrheit«.
