So kurz vor dem 1. Mai soll die offizielle Arbeitslosenzahl wohl für Freude und Entspannung sorgen. 3,078 Millionen Menschen waren im April ohne Arbeit ? für die politisch Verantwortlichen ein willkommener Anlass die Vokabel ?Jobwunder? massiv zu strapazieren. Doch nur durch massive Statistiktricks ließ sich die Arbeitslosenzahl so weit drücken. DIE LINKE hat nachgerechnet und kommt trickbereinigt auf 4,085 Millionen Menschen ohne Arbeit, darunter Arbeitslose über 58 oder 1-Euro-Jobber, d.h. über eine Millionen Menschen wurden aus der offiziellen Statistik herausgerechnet. Und selbst Volkswirte geben zu, was DIE LINKE seit Jahren sagt. Das vermeintliche Jobwunder beruht zu einem großen Teil auf Leiharbeit, Minijobs und schlecht bezahlter Arbeit. Prekäre Beschäftigung und ein rasant wachsender Niedriglohnbereich sind das, was sich hinter dem 'Aufschwung' verbirgt. Das sind Millionen Schicksale von Menschen, die von ihrer Arbeit nicht leben können, Unsicherheit und Erpressbarkeit. Die Einführung der Arbeitnehmerfreizügigkeit zum 1. Mai ist ein richtiger Schritt in ein vereinigtes Europa, aber sie muss sozial abgesichert werden. DIE LINKE fordert seit Jahren einen flächendeckenden, gesetzlichen Mindestlohn: Nur er verhindert, dass Arbeitgeber den Konkurrenzkampf auf dem Rücken der Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer austragen, nur er verhindert Lohndumping. Gerade zum 1. Mai sagt DIE LINKE: Mindestlohn ist das Mindeste. Nur ein existenzsichernder, flächendeckender gesetzlicher Mindestlohn stärkt die Binnennachfrage und schafft Arbeitsplätze, gute Arbeitsplätze.

Conventional wisdom and the laws and constitutions of many states have long held that the pensions being earned by current government workers are untouchable. But as the fiscal crisis has lingered, officials in strapped states from California to Illinois have begun to take a second look, to see whether there might be loopholes allowing them to cut the pension benefits of current employees. Now the move in Detroit - made possible, lawyers said, because Michigan's constitutional protections are weaker - could spur other places to try to follow suit.'

Anlässlich der von der Bundesagentur für Arbeit veröffentlichten Zahlen von ausufernden Dumpinglöhnen in Deutschland kritisiert die Vorsitzende der Partei DIE LINKE, Gesine Lötzsch, die Politik der Hartz-IV-Parteien:

Der Trend war abzusehen und ist hausgemacht. Sowohl Rot-Grün als auch Schwarz-Gelb priesen Minijobs als Erfolgsmodell der Agenda 2010. Diese Politik hat Deutschland europaweit zum Niedriglohnland gestempelt. Die Folgen sind verheerend. Inzwischen konstatiert die Bundesagentur für Arbeit, trotz wirtschaftlichen Aufschwungs, mehr als 7,3 Millionen geringfügig entlohnt Beschäftigte. Immer mehr Menschen müssen Sozialleistungen beantragen, weil sie sich mit mehreren Nebenjobs nicht über Wasser halten können. Davon besonders betroffen sind Frauen. Die Situation wird sich ab dem 1. Mai 2011 weiter verschärfen, denn damit steht der Arbeitsmarkt auch Beschäftigten aus Mittel- und Osteuropa offen. Das ist ein guter Schritt auf dem Weg zu einem vereinigten Europa. Es ist ein schlechter Schritt, wenn Arbeitgeber nicht daran gehindert werden, die Löhne weiter zu drücken. Doch statt umzusteuern lässt die Bundesregierung weiter zu, dass Leiharbeit und Ausbeutung zu miesesten Bedingungen Hochkonjunktur haben. Das wirksamste Mittel gegen Lohndumping ist die Einführung eines flächendeckenden gesetzlichen Mindestlohns von 10 Euro, wie ihn DIE LINKE fordert. Wir werden dafür gemeinsam mit den Gewerkschaften am 1. Mai auf die Straße gehen. Es ist Zeit, die verheerende Entwicklung auf dem Arbeitsmarkt zu stoppen. Deutschland braucht gute Arbeit und faire Löhne ebenso wie gleichen Lohn für gleiche Arbeit.
