US government braces for more Wikileaks

The Age [Ausralia]

11/26/10

Australia has been briefed by the US about the imminent release by WikiLeaks of a massive tranche of secret diplomatic cables, which sources say contain allegations of corruption and embarrassing behaviour by politicians around the world. ? Yesterday Reuters reported the views of several State Department sources, who said the corruption allegations in the cables were major enough to ?cause serious embarrassment for foreign governments and politicians named in them.? At the same time, a State Department spokesman, Philip Crowley, confirmed the imminent release and said the US had been contacting foreign governments about the issue...

Kolumne in Steffens UNIversum vom 23. November 2011 http://www.einstieg.com/infos/kolumne

The Transportation Security Administration knows with 100 percent certainty that John Tyner, the 31-year-old Oceanside man who refused to submit to one of those embarrassing body scans or be searched by TSA groin-grabbers during his recent attempt to fly from San Diego to South Dakota, poses no security threat to the United States or anywhere else. He is not a terrorist, just a citizen frustrated by the growing intrusiveness of TSA screening procedures. Nevertheless, after Tyner refused to complete his screening process, a TSA official told him that the agency is likely to sue him. If it did, Tyner could face $11,000 in fines and a possible ban from air travel ? not because he did anything wrong, but because he refused to submit to the authorities, which used to be a proud tradition in our society...

The Transportation Safety Administration is bringing the war home ? and the American people don t like it one bit. Stories of TSA outrages are everywhere, from the 'Don t touch my junk' guy to that photo of a nun in full robes being searched by a TSA thuglet. Talk radio is up in arms, Judge Napolitano is having a conniption, and both liberals and conservatives seem to be uniting around a general consensus that this level of intrusiveness cannot be allowed to stand.
