'Ein Richter am Bundesgerichtshof (BGH) ist mutiger als die ganze Bundesregierung', erklärt die Vorsitzende der Partei DIE LINKE, Gesine Lötzsch, zum Urteil des BGH gegen die Deutsche Bank im Zusammenhang mit Zinswettgeschäften. Gesine Lötzsch weiter:

Die Bundesregierung hat die Bankenrettung nach dem Fahrplan der Deutschen Bank gestaltet. Das ist der Deutschen Bank und Herrn Ackermann gut bekommen, doch den Steuerzahlern nicht. Sie müssen jetzt die Kosten der Krise tragen. Der BGH-Richter Ulrich Wiechers hat sich etwas getraut, wovor die Bundesregierung immer zurückschreckte. Er hat sich mit der mächtigsten Bank Deutschlands angelegt. Die Deutsche Bank muss für ihre Zinswettgeschäfte eine saftige Strafe zahlen. Bei der einen Strafe wird es wohl nicht bleiben. Kommunen, denen diese giftigen Papiere untergejubelt wurden und die dadurch dramatisch hohe Verluste gemacht haben, werden von der Deutschen Bank und anderen Banken Millionen zurückerhalten. Doch die Schuld trifft nicht nur die Banken. Die Bundesregierung und die Bundesländer hätten dafür Sorge tragen müssen, dass staatliche Institutionen mit Steuergeldern keine Wetten abschließen dürfen. Doch die politisch Verantwortlichen haben im Interesse der Banken lieber weggeschaut. DIE LINKE fordert ein sofortiges Verbot von Wetten mit Steuergeldern!

And then I watched Democratic politicians, one after the next, go on talk shows to talk about this scandal, and they were all petrified of saying what the reality was, which was that what the Bush administration got caught doing was a crime and it was illegal. They were all afraid to say that. What they were really eager for was for the scandal to go away, for them not to have to talk about it any longer...

How about the torture Obama condemned? Yet now under President Obama we torture a U.S. soldier named Bradley Manning (of Wikileaks fame), even though hes been convicted of nothing. Twenty-three hours a day of sitting shackled, naked and freezing in his cell ? and this is how we treat an American soldier who is innocent until proven guilty under Obama? Mr. Obama, you?ve already won a Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing. Are you now trying to win an Oscar for impersonating George W. Bush?

There is no reliable estimate of the number of civilians killed. The US has taken the lead in the punishing bombing campaign to carry out United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973. The resolution authorizes UN member states 'to take all necessary measures ... to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, including Benghazi, while excluding a foreign occupation force of any form on any part of Libyan territory.' The military action taken exceeds the bounds of the 'all necessary measures' authorization.'

Widerstand gegen Sklavenhandel

ALSO-Aktion zur Leiharbeitsmesse in Oldenburg

Am vergangenen Mittwoch (23.3.2011) fand in der Oldenburger Messehalle eine sog. Zeitarbeitsmesse statt. Knapp 20 Zeitarbeitsläden suchten sich in gutem Bild darzustellen. Das gelang wohl nicht. Zum einen waren die meisten Messe?besucher? zwangsrekrutiert - ganze Gruppen von Maßnahmenteilnehmern wurden durch die Halle geschleust. Zum anderen hatten schon viele allzu üble Erfahrungen mit diesen Unternehmen gemacht. Die Arbeitslosenselbsthilfe Oldenburg (ALSO) konnte mit vielen Besuchern gute Gespräche führen, informierte über das Urteil des Bundesarbeitsgericht, wonach der Christliche Leiharbeitstarif ungültig ist wie auch die Möglichkeit, in bestimmten Fällen den Lohn der Entleihbetriebe nachzufordern. 'Zeitarbeitsmesse ? das klingt gut, das klingt seriös. Auf Messen werden neue Waren und Dienstleistungen präsentiert. Bei der Zeitarbeit wird auch mit Ware gehandelt: mit der Ware Arbeitskraft. Allerdings ist die Ware Arbeitskraft fest mit lebendigen Menschen verbunden. Menschenhandelsmesse? ? Das klingt schon nicht mehr so gut. (?) Sklavenhändlermesse ? wie klingt das?...? Linke verurteilt Krieg der NATO in Libyen

Mit der Übernahme des Kommandos für den gesamten Militäreinsatz in Libyen zeigt die NATO, dass sie aus dem Krieg in Afghanistan nichts gelernt hat, erklärt das Mitglied im Geschäftsführenden Parteivorstand Christine Buchholz. Buchholz weiter:

Die NATO scheint aus dem Krieg in Afghanistan nichts gelernt zu haben. Jetzt wird die NATO die Gesamtführung der 'militärischen Offensive' übernehmen, und somit in einen Krieg einsteigen, dessen Ende nicht absehbar ist, und der ? wie jeder Krieg ? viele zivile Opfer fordern wird. Sie riskiert damit, Libyen auf Jahre zu einem Konfliktgebiet zu machen. Damit wird sich die Lage der Bevölkerung verschlechtern, diese Erfahrung mussten auch die Menschen in Afghanistan machen. Auch die Bundesregierung trägt damit nun Mitverantwortung für die weitere Eskalation des Bürgerkriegs in Libyen. Die Bundesregierung muss sich sofort und entschieden in der NATO für ein Ende der Angriffe auf Libyen einsetzen. Zudem muss Merkel den Druck auf Frankreich und die anderen kriegsführenden Staaten erhöhen, um den Krieg endlich zu beenden.
