'Die Blutspur der NATO in Afghanistan wird breiter, in der dortigen Bevölkerung wachsen Wut und Empörung: Bei Luftangriffen der Kriegsallianz sind in den vergangenen Tagen nach örtlichen Behördenangaben mehr als 30 Zivilisten und 20 Polizisten ums Leben gekommen. Bei einer Attacke in der südafghanischen Provinz Helmand starben am Samstag 14 Zivilisten, zwölf Kinder und zwei Frauen, erklärte das Büro des Gouverneurs der Provinz am Sonntag. Am selben Tag teilte der Gouverneuer der nordöstlichen Provinz Nuristan mit, daß bereits am 25.Mai 18 Zivilisten sowie 20 Polizisten von ­NATO-Einheiten getötet worden waren?? As my colleague George Zornick reports from Congress, in a surprisingly close contest today, the House rejected an amendment sponsored by Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) which called for a withdrawal plan from Afghanistan, preferably one that outlines an 'aggressive' drawdown of troops. It lost by only 11 votes, 215-204. Nonetheless, the vote is the strongest yet for McGovern s exit initiative and sends a united Democratic message to the president and people that momentum may finally be shifting toward some sort of organized withdrawal plan...

Zum Tod eines Bundeswehrsoldaten nach einem Anschlag nahe Kundus erklärt Christine Buchholz, Mitglied im Geschäftsführenden Parteivorstand der LINKEN:

Unser Beileid gilt den Angehörigen und Freunden des in Afghanistan getöteten Bundeswehrsoldaten und den Verletzten. Der Anschlag verdeutlicht, dass sich die Situation in Afghanistan weiter zugespitzt hat und auch die Bundeswehr zunehmend als Teil des Problems gesehen wird. Die Schüsse, die von Bundeswehrsoldaten vergangenen Mittwoch auf Demonstranten in Talokan abgegeben wurden, verstärken diese Entwicklung. Solange die Bundeswehr an der Aufstandsbeekämpfung beteiligt ist, wird es keine Sicherheit für die Soldaten geben.
