Statt Schauveranstaltung in Bonn braucht Deutschland eine neue Afghanistanpolitik

11. November 2011

Afghanistan: ISAF data show night raids killed more than 1,500 civilians

Inter Press Service

U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) killed well over 1,500 civilians in night raids in less than 10 months in 2010 and early 2011, analysis of official statistics on the raids released by the U.S.-NATO command reveals. That number would make U.S. night raids by far the largest cause of civilian casualties in the war in Afghanistan...

Ten Years After the Afghan Invasion: Welcome to the Failed State of Americastan

Johnny Barber, Truthout: 'As we step off the Turkish Air flight and walk across the dusty tarmac to the terminal, we are greeted by a large billboard. In big, bold English it proclaims, 'Welcome to the Home of the Brave.' It stops me in my tracks. I shake my head, thinking, 'damn weird' and continue in to passport control. After waiting in a short line, I present my American passport to the guard in the booth. He doesnt' acknowledge me. He flips through the shiny, new pages until he gets to the visa. He stamps it. He turns to the picture. He gives me a precursory glance and hands the passport back to me. I turn and enter Afghanistan.'

Afghanistan, 10 years on

CounterPunch
by Ramzy Baroud

10/13/11

The war remains repulsive ten years after the US began attacking the poorest country on earth. This latest crime against humanity in Afghanistan is a continuation of a trend that has spanned decades. Unfortunate Afghanistan was designated a pawn in a Great Game between powerful contenders vying for strategic control and easy access to natural resources. Throughout history, Afghanistan has been brutalized simply because of its geographical location...
