Here is the 'red line' the Israelis have been demanding: not the act of building a nuclear weapon but evidence 'they are making that attempt.' That is, evidence of their intent to do so, without any corroborating evidence they have actually succeeded. The catch is that such an 'assessment' based on fresh intelligence would be just as impossible to check as it was in the run-up to the Iraq war, when US officials assured us Saddam was making the Bomb and citing all sorts of completely invented 'intelligence' to back it up. In short, we won t find out if we were lied into war until well after the war has started, devastating the region, the world economy, and all hopes for peace...

ESM steht für Europäischer Spekulanten-Mechanismus

Das Bundeskabinett hat am Mittwoch den sogenannten dauerhaften Euro-Rettungsschirm ESM verabschiedet. Dazu erklärt die Vorsitzende der Partei DIE LINKE, Gesine Lötzsch:

Der ESM ist der größte Rettungsschirm, der jemals von Regierungen über ein Casino aufgespannt wurde. Die Spekulanten erhalten 500 Mrd. Euro von den Steuerzahlerinnen und Steuerzahlern Europas. Die Regeln dieses Casinos werden nicht geändert. Nicht einmal auf eine Finanztransaktionssteuer konnten sich die Finanzminister der Euro-Länder einigen. Darauf haben die Lobbyisten der Finanzindustrie großen Wert gelegt. Spekulanten können weiter ungestört ihre Spielchen gegen ganze Volkswirtschaften führen und Millionen Menschen ins Unglück stürzen. Die Bundesregierung hat den zaghaften Kampf gegen die Finanzindustrie aufgegeben. Jetzt kämpft sie um so hartnäckiger gegen die Europäerinnen und Europäer, die die Finanzkrise nicht verursacht haben. Der Fiskalpakt ist ein Pakt gegen die Bürgerinnen und Bürger. Ihnen soll das Geld aus der Tasche gezogen werden, damit der Spielbetrieb in den Casinos ungestört weiter gehen kann. DIE LINKE lehnt den ESM und den Fiskalpakt ab. Beide Instrumente werden Europa nicht aus der Krise führen. Im Gegenteil, sie werden dazu führen, dass die Mehrheit der Menschen weniger in den Taschen hat und eine Minderheit sich weiter bereichern kann. Das hat nichts mehr mit sozialer Marktwirtschaft zu tun, das ist nackter Kapitalismus. Die Bundesregierung muss sofort den Kampf gegen die Finanzmafia aufnehmen oder abtreten.

Demokratie statt Fiskalpakt! Krisenlösung und Europa gehen nur ganz anders

''Frühjahr 2012. Merkel und Sarkozy eilen von Gipfel zu Gipfel, um den Euro zu retten. Der Boulevard hetzt gegen die Menschen in Griechenland. Der Kampf um die Krisenlösung spitzt sich dramatisch zu: Bis Anfang 2013 will ein autoritär-neoliberales Bündnis aus Kapitalverbänden, Finanzindustrie, EU-Kommission, deutscher Regierung und weiteren Exportländern den jüngst in Brüssel beschlossenen ?Fiskalpakt? im Schnellverfahren durch die Parlamente bringen. Der Fiskalpakt verordnet eine sozialfeindliche Sparpolitik und umfasst Strafen gegen Länder, die sich dieser Politik widersetzen. Der Fiskalpakt schränkt damit demokratische Selbstbestimmung weiter ein. Er ist vorläufiger Höhepunkt einer autoritären Entwicklung in Europa. Wir sind diese unsoziale und anti-demokratische Politik ebenso leid wie die rassistischen Attacken auf die griechische Bevölkerung. Reden wir stattdessen von den menschenverachtenden Folgen dieser Politik. Reden wir über die autoritäre Wende Europas und deutsche Niedriglöhne als Krisenursache. Sarrazin hetzt, die NSU mordet

Zu Thilo Sarrazins heutigen Äußerungen zu jungen Muslimen in der BILD-Zeitung erklärt Christine Buchholz, Mitglied im Geschäftsführenden Vorstand der Partei DIE LINKE:

Sarrazin lügt, provoziert und hetzt in rassistischer Manier gegen Muslime. Aussagen von Sarrazin wie: ''Niemand muss in Deutschland leben, wenn er unsere kulturellen Werte nicht teilt'', sind eine Steilvorlage für Nazis. Die Morde der NSU an Migranten türkischer und griechischer Herkunft sollten uns eine Warnung sein. Rassistische Hetze ist tödlich.
