Dr. McCoy is trying to arrange covert passage to a star system declared off-limits by the Federation Council. McCoy asks an alien pilot what it would cost to transport him there. Niman, ArtVoice: 'Unions fought for and won fundamental rights that we all now take for granted - things ranging from child labor and minimum wage laws to lunch breaks and the 40 hour week. And as union wages increased, so did non-union wages, since union contracts raised the wage floor in our free market for labor. As long as union jobs offered better pay and benefits, they would attract better workers, which worked out well for unionized businesses. In order to compete to hire qualified workers, non-union businesses had to match union wages and benefits. Some of us paid union dues, but all of us reaped the benefits those dues bought. The union effect balances the profit-wage equation. Take it away, and the equation tips back toward the radical social inequity of the 19th century and the period right before the Great Depression. And this is what is happening. As the wage floor increased, the need for individuals to join unions decreased.'

Die Aktivistin Judith Maisenbacher schrieb Samstag in der taz: 'Neckarwestheim 1 wird endgültig abgeschaltet. Wie lange haben wir vom südwestdeutschen Anti-Atom-Widerstand auf diese Nachricht gewartet. Wie viel Zeit und Energie in Mobilisierung, Demonstrationen, Blockaden, Kletteraktionen gesteckt. Unermüdlich. Jahrzehntelang: Sonntagsspaziergänge mit sehr schwankenden Teilnehmerzahlen. Heute ist der Tag gekommen, der unser Triumph hätte werde können. Aber mir ist nur zum Heulen zumute! Warum muss es immer erst zur Katastrophe kommen, bevor sich was bewegt?'

Ich kann das sehr gut nachvollziehen. Mir geht es auch so, dass ich mich derzeit nicht richtig freuen kann. Aber es gibt Dinge, die mir Mut machen. Und dazu gehört eindeutig, wie viele Menschen sich jetzt für die Stilllegung der anderen 16 AKW einsetzen. Zur Stunde haben wir Anmeldungen für Mahnwachen für heute Abend in fast 700 Orten ? und es werden noch mehr!

Die Nachrichten melden, dass die AKW-Betreiber in Fukushima die Situation langsam unter Kontrolle bekommen. Ob das so stimmt, wissen wir nicht - die Nachrichten werden vom AKW-Betreiber bestimmt. Es kann sein, dass es zu keiner Explosion kommt, wie vor 25 Jahren in Tschernobyl. Sicher sind nur zwei schreckliche Dinge:

- Seit mehr als einer Woche sind die Reaktoren nicht unter Kontrolle, treten ständig neue Probleme auf, können die Helfer nur improvisieren.

- Die Gegend um Fukushima ist längst verstrahlt. Ganz Japan ist bedroht. Wie viele Menschen in den nächsten Wochen und Monaten strahlenkrank werden, können wir noch nicht erahnen.

Für uns heißt das: Nicht nachlassen. Die Mahnwachen heute sollen mahnen und gedenken an die Ereignisse in Japan, an die Opfer, die es bereits gibt und die es geben wird. Und wir wollen gemeinsam fordern, dass es zu einem solchen Unfall nie mehr kommen darf. Nicht in Japan, nicht in Deutschland, nirgendwo. Damit das sicher ist, müssen die AKW jetzt stillgelegt werden.

Mache bei den Mahnwachen und in den nächsten Tagen Werbung für die Großdemonstrationen am Samstag in Berlin, Hamburg, Köln und München!

Am Samstag, den 26. März wollen wir den Druck auf Regierung und Stromkonzerne nochmal verstärken ? mit vier Großdemonstrationen in den vier größten Städten der Republik. Neben den Mahnwachen vor Ort ist es sehr wichtig, dass wir auch an zentralen Orten mit vielen Tausend Menschen zusammenkommen, um deutlich zu machen, dass die AKWs nicht mehr weiterlaufen dürfen. Mach mit!

So kurzfristig angesetzte Demos können nur gelingen, wenn alle mit dazu beitragen, sie bekannt zu machen, über E-Mail, soziale Netzwerke oder persönliche Ansprache. Und es müssen ganz spontan Busse aus möglichst vielen Orten organisiert werden. Vielleicht ist es Dir (in Absprache mit anderen Aktiven oder Organisationen vor Ort) ja möglich, noch heute einen oder mehrere Busse zu chartern. Dann könnt Ihr gleich bei der Mahnwache am Abend Fahrkarten verkaufen. In vielen Städten wird es auch in den nächsten Wochen montags Mahnwachen oder Montagsspaziergänge gegen Atomkraft geben. Am 26. März steigen die vier Großdemos. Am 2. April wird in Gorleben demonstriert. Am 9. April ist ein dezentraler Aktionstag in vielen Städten geplant. Am Ostermontag, 25. April, finden an allen AKW-Standorten und weiteren Atomanlagen Großdemonstrationen statt.

Neben diesen zentral koordinierten Anti-Atom-Aktionen wird unendlich viel vor Ort entstehen. Regeneratives Energiekonzept für Baden-Württemberg

Für die erfolgreiche Wirtschaftsregion Baden-Württemberg liegt nun ein Konzept für den Übergang zur Nutzung Erneuerbarer vor. Das Land Baden-Württemberg benötigt für die Zukunft einen Energiemix basierend auf Erneuerbaren Energien. Wie dieser aussehen kann, hat nun das Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE in Freiburg erarbeitet. In einem Konzeptpapier für die Landesregierung haben wir einen Energieentwicklungspfad skizziert. Dabei zeigt sich, dass ein starker Ausbau der Erneuerbaren Energien in Baden-Württemberg technisch möglich und wirtschaftlich durchführbar ist, sagt Prof. Dr. Eicke R. Weber, Leiter des Fraunhofer ISE.

Ihr Hauptquartier ist das Büro der NCCLU. Außerdem wurde beschlossen, ein Soforthilfezentrum einzurichten. (...) Das große Disaster in der Ost-Japanischen Erdbeben-Katastrophe ist jedoch, dass der Neo-Liberalismus unvermeidliche Tatsachen geschaffen hat und die nun notwendige Infrastruktur zerstörte. Er versucht seit 25 Jahren die Krise dadurch zu bewältigen, dass er die Staatsbahnen zerstückelte und privatisierte: örtliche Autonomien zerschlug, die örtlichen Finanzen zu Grunde richtete, die öffentliche Infrastruktur durch Privatisierungen zerstörte und die Anzahl öffentlicher Dienstleister uneingeschränkt abbaute, etc. Das große Erdbeben hat gerade jene Regionen schwer getroffen, die durch diese Entwicklungen besonders im Stich gelassen worden waren. The suicide rate for female soldiers triples when they go to war, according to the first round of preliminary data from an Army study. The findings, released to USA TODAY this week, show that the suicide rate rises from five per 100,000 to 15 per 100,000 among female soldiers at war. Scientists are not sure why but say they will look into whether women feel isolated in a male-dominated war zone or suffer greater anxieties about leaving behind children and other loved ones.

Krieg ist auch in Libyen keine Lösung

Zur Libyen-Resolution des UN-Sicherheitsrates erklären die Vorsitzenden von Partei und Fraktion DIE LINKE, Gesine Lötzsch, Gregor Gysi und Klaus Ernst:

'Mit der Resolution des Sicherheitsrates der Vereinten Nationen droht aus dem Bürgerkrieg in Libyen ein international geführter Krieg zu werden. So richtig es ist, Gaddafis mörderischem Treiben Einhalt zu gebieten, so falsch ist es, dies mit Krieg erreichen zu wollen. Auch Frankreich, Großbritannien und die USA wissen, welch hohes Risiko mit der Einrichtung einer Flugverbotszone und der faktischen Freigabe von militärischen Interventionen durch den Sicherheitsrat verbunden ist. Die Charta der Vereinten Nationen wird verletzt. Deutschland hat im Weltsicherheitsrat die militärischen Entscheidungen nicht vorangetrieben. Diese Haltung wird nun aus den Reihen von SPD und Grünen kritisiert. Die Kritik ist falsch. SPD und Grüne machen sich wieder zum Vorreiter eines kriegerischen Abenteuers. Sie nutzen dafür das längst widerlegte Argument von Schröder und Fischer, Krieg wäre auch in diesem Falle die 'Ultima ratio'. Für DIE LINKE gilt: Krieg ist die Ultima irratio. Wir werden einem Krieg für Öl und einer deutschen Beteiligung daran auf keinem Fall zustimmen. Die Bundesregierung von Union und SPD hat den libyschen Diktator mit den von ihr 2006- 2009 genehmigten Rüstungsexporten von über 83 Millionen Euro aufgerüstet und den Krieg gegen die eigene Bevölkerung für Gaddafi führbar gemacht. Sie hat zu wenig getan, um den wirtschaftlichen Druck auf die Machthaber in Libyen zu erhöhen. Öl- und Geldströme wurden nicht konsequent unterbrochen, ein weltweiter Stopp für Rüstungs- und Munitionslieferungen nicht durchgesetzt. Eine Hilfe in der Flüchtlingsfrage wurde nur nebenbei betrieben. DIE LINKE fordert, eine Kriegsbeteiligung der NATO auszuschließen. Die Bundesregierung muss ihre Enthaltung im Sicherheitsrat nun in politisches Handeln umsetzen und auf Großbritannien, Frankreich und die USA mäßigend einwirken. Deutschland darf sich weder unmittelbar noch mittelbar an einem militärischen Eingreifen beteiligen. Deutschland muss sich dafür einsetzen, dass unter dem Dach der Vereinten Nationen ernsthaft über einen Waffenstillstand aller Konfliktparteien verhandelt wird. Eine militärische Eskalation muss verhindert werden."

Die Militärintervention ist keine Lösung sondern eine Verschärfung des Konflikts. Aus einem Bürgerkrieg ist ein international geführter Krieg geworden. Es droht eine Eskalation mit unabsehbaren Folgen. Wir fordern die Bundesregierung auf, entschieden bei ihren NATO-Partnern Widerspruch gegen das Bombardement einzulegen. Demokratie kann man nicht herbeibomben. Unsere Botschaft an alle Kriegsparteien lautet: Die Waffen nieder! Wir fordern einen sofortigen Waffenstillstand. Es müssen sofort Verhandlungen auf der Grundlage eines allgemeinen Gewaltverzichts und einer Anerkennung der völkerrechtlichen Standards beginnen.
