The girl Carla Díez Garcia, seven years, was student of the school
Garcia Quintana of Valladolid, where four childlike cases of cancer in a
single year were detected. The parents of the 450 students of the center
attributed the cause to a mobile phone system antennae installation
placed in the roof of a next building at school. The commission of
experts which was created to investigate that matter judged in May 2002
that the data analyzed «do not support the hypothesis of a relation
causal» among the childlike cause of cancer and the antennae of phone
system. The antennae were finally retreated and the installation
dismantled by judicial order. The other three children affected still live.

The seven years old girl Carla Díez Garcia, student of the school Garcia
Quintana of Valladolid, passed away the day before yesterday, suffering
an unexpected backslide after had been submitted in September from 2002
to a bone marrow transplantation in consequence of the leukemia. Carla
was one of the four students of the center that was diagnosed the same
childlike class of cancer. The parents of the students attributed the
disconcerting cause to a forest of antennae of mobile phone, installed
in the roof of a next building to the school. The antennae was finally
retreated by judicial order. «Today it is a very sad day for the parents
and professors of the center, that have followed very closely this case
and we regret deeply that have finished thus after all what have had to
pass Carla and her family», the president of the Commission said
yesterday of the Affected by the Antennae of Phone System of the Public
School Garcia Quintana, Margarita Garcia Alvarez. Due to that yesterday
it was the first school holiday day of the Holy Week, the companions of
Carla and other children of the center do not know still their death.
Garcia Alvarez insists for the matter of the Commission of Affected, it
maintains its activity to wait the judicial actions to be resolved, as
the Association of Mothers and Parents «we have the firm conviction that
the cause has some relation with the antennae that were installed
together to central». The girl passed away, buried yesterday in
Valladolid, was submitted in September to a bone marrow transplantation
in the Hospital of the Boy Jesus of Madrid, where in a first phase was
gone nine months. After returning to its residence January 20 with its
pulmonary capacity severely diminished by the processing, continued in
Valladolid its recovery without the satisfactory results, for which she
had to return to the Madrid hospital in which she passed away. The
Commission Antiantenas that was created in the school and the parents of
the students attributed the childlike cause of cancer, with four cases
in a year, to an industrial installation of the adjacent mobile phone
system to the school that was closed and dismantled by judicial order.
The Commission of Experts that investigated the cause determined, May
23, 2002, that the data that handled «do not support the hypothesis of a
relation causal» among this phenomenon and the antennae of mobile phone
system that were installed in an adjacent building. The girl suffered
since last summer in a backslide of leukemia of the one that had been
treated, was advised to a consistent, bone marrow transplantation in the
replacement of the mother cells of the red corpuscles, of the white
corpuscles and the plaquetas of the blood by way endovenosa, with a
similar procedure to a blood transfusion. The need of a transplant of
marrow to fight the illness of this girl carried the parents of the
School Garcia Quintana to set in motion, the passed month of May 2002, a
campaign of sensitisation to obtain donors of marrow for this and other
cases. The transplant was carried out in September with cells of an
umbilical cord that gave an adequate compatibility. After a hard
postoperative process and to surpass diverse complications derived from
the hardness of the processing and of the own transplant that had been
submitted, Carla returned to Valladolid.

Opinion of the CSIF-CEM on the effects of radio frequencies on
THE BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER

Abstract: This review of publications on the effects of the
electromagnetic fields (EMF) in the range of radio frequencies on the
blood-brain barrier (BBB) shows that after the evidences of thermic
effects various studies showed an action of permeabilisation to very
weak, non thermic doses. The conflicts of some studies not showing
effects like more technical differences than doubt on the reality of
these effects. Consequences confront already in term of increase of the
troubles of headaches, and last works give some consistency to fears
relative to the increase of disease neuro-degenerative as the ALS, the
disease of Alzheimer, the autisme. Been afraid all the more big as all
the broadcasts of radio frequencies are concerned: mobile telephony GSM
or UMTS (bases stations included), networks without thread, Wi-FI,
personal broadcasting stations of 'take care' of the babies, and could
appear from 0,4 V/m. It is so indispensable to decrease the doses of
exhibition of the population and to increase search studies as regards
the weak doses of exhibition in radio frequencies. On line

Gathering legal arguments

Dear Fellows:

We informed you that on April 1, 2003, the City Council of Berkeley
scheduled a Public Hearing for us on June 17, 2003 to present our case
against the antennas proposed by Sprint.

The City Council also told us that we cannot use any health arguments to
oppose the installation of antennas. As it appears, in the US, an FCC
law passed in 1996 rules out any health arguments against antennas. Only
legal issues can stop antennas. For instance, we can stop antennas if we
prove to the City Council that antennas would block our views! Sounds
ridiculous, but unfortunately it is true!

We are gathering all possible legal arguments that would work for us.
Now, we would like to ask you if you know legal arguments that could be
used against Sprint. Of course, this is a hard question because the City
of Berkeley has its own Telecommunication Ordinance. But, if you know
cases where legal arguments stopped antennas, please let us know.
