Telecom has been banned from putting up mobile phone masts in any property
owned by the Public Works Committee on the island. The firm may also be asked
to remove small mobile phone transmitters from a number of street lights in
Douglas. The Public Works Committee
is recommending they should be taken down, because of health
concerns. It says although there is
no proof of any risk, it is worried about the radiation given off by the
equipment. Chairman of the committee
Ritchie McNicholl said: "The health of the public is too important to take
