Petition to Stop U.S. Push for Nuclear War All life on Earth
today is
hostage to a reckless and suicidal U.S. nuclear weapons policy,
which
threatens at any moment to explode into nuclear war. The Bush
Administration's explicit strategy of world domination by
pre-emptive
strike (military aggression), along with withdrawal from the
Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and feverish attempts to set
up a
missile-defense shield for the U.S. homeland, are forcing
nations which
do not have nuclear weapons to obtain them for self-defense,
and forcing
nuclear-armed nations to increase their readiness to launch
nuclear
missiles against the United States.
Fellow hostages to U.S. nuclear terror, we must awake, inform
ourselves
about the unprecedented threat of global nuclear war we all
face now,
and act!
We, the undersigned, demand that the Bush Administration
and Congress
immediately take the following steps to reverse current U.S.
global
strategy of nuclear weapons aggression:
1) Negotiate a non-aggression pact with North Korea, so North
Korea will
not feel the need to launch a nuclear first-strike against
the United
States to prevent a U.S. pre-emptive strike against North
Korea.
2) Meet U.S. treaty obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation
Treaty by renouncing the threat of use of nuclear weapons
against
non-nuclear nations, and by making genuine and dramatic moves
toward
complete nuclear disarmament.
3) Renounce any first-use of nuclear weapons, and negotiate
a
de-alerting of the thousands of nuclear missiles the United
States and
Russia have aimed at each other now on hair-trigger alert.
4) Abandon any and all new nuclear weapons programs, including
the
making of nuclear "bunker-busters" or "mini-nukes."
