In addition to this, do not forget the results obtained by the Swedish team
of Högstedt and Örtendahl in the early 1990ties (I think it was) where they
placed test fillings of amalgam in a rack, exposed them to the electromagnetic
fields from visual display terminals and saw a statistically significant increase
in the release of mercury.
When I tried to approach them, some years later, to repeat this experiment
using mobile phones, as well as remaking their experiment using humans, and
also to make a repetition of exactly their set-up using test fillings 'in vitro', they
refused to help me (actually, they seemed to be very scared even to talk to me).
This is still a set of experiments that should be done (!); I and my collaborators
do have the know-how, but every time we have approached funding organizations
they have just replied with a "NO!!"... So, if anyone can make a difference, this is
definitely one of the issues/areas to deal with.
Finally, also see the paper by myself and Örjan Hallberg about the connection
between Alzheimer's disease mortality and exposure to mobile phone output
Hallberg Ö, Johansson O, "Alzheimer mortality - why does it increase so
fast in sparsely populated areas?", Europ Biol Bioelectromag 2005; 1:

You may already have heard the shocking news. The recent decision of
The Council of European Dentists (CED)  to continue the use of
amalgam shows the recklessness of the dental profession. Ignoring all research
findings on the link of mercury to autism and Alzheimer's is a sign of their lack of
scientific and individual integrity. The use of amalgam is a crime
against humanity.
The environmental doctors who launched the Freiburg Appeal [ ] in 2002
had found that  Alzheimer cases had increased drastically in ever younger
people since the introduction and widespread use of mobile telephony. Since
then the situation has even worsened.
The treatment of and care for Alzheimer's patients and autistics costs
billions of euro - the emotional and social burden for sufferers,
their families and carers is ignored by callous dentists unwilling
to learn new techniques. In order to save costs for dental treatment health
officials allow the poisoning and slow decline into dementia of
considerable number of people who are genetically predisposed to hold on to mercury
because their metabolism is unable to excrete it.
The removal of the mercury-containing childhood vaccines has not
led to the expected drastic decrease on autism cases. The most likely cause for
"sustained" high rates are microwaves that permeate the blood-brain
barrier [ ], thus allowing mercury to reach the brain directly. The amount of environmental mercury from contaminated food, incinerators and from pregnant mothers' dental amalgam that passes the placenta and then the developing brain of the embryo may be enough to induce autism.
The link of mercury in amalgam to Alzheimer's, autism, developmental delays,
speech delays and hyperactivity and attention deficit disorders should
become general knowledge.

Subject: CED Press Release on dental amalgam
Dear MEP,
Given that your ENVI committee has dealt with the Community mercury strategy, we attached for your information a press release of the CED relating to the conference organised by the EEB today on the "Dental Sector as a Source of Mercury Contamination". Also attached is a CED Resolution on dental amalgam, which was adopted earlier this month.
Prof. Gottfried Schmalz, who spoke at today's conference on behalf of the
CED, highlighted the importance of maintaining the full range of choice of
filling materials to meet patients' needs. He explained that the CED has
called on Member States to ensure full enforcement of already
existing EU waste laws, in order to minimise the environmental impact of waste
amalgam. Above all, national prevention programmes in oral health
should be promoted in order to reduce the need for healthcare interventions, which all
carry some degree of risk.
For more information, please do not hesitate to contact me. This press release has been sent to full members of the ENVI committee.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Beamish
