This is the 2nd part of a survey study conducted on 530 people (270 men,
260 women) living or not in vicinity of cellular phone base stations.
Comparison of complaints frequencies for 16 Non Specific Health Symptoms
was done with the CHI-Square test with Yates correction. Our results
show significant increase (p < 0.05) in relation with age of subjects
(elder subjects are more sensitive) and also, that the facing location
is the worst position for some symptoms studied, especially for
distances till 100m from base stations. No significant difference is
observed in the frequency of symptoms related to the duration of
exposure (from < 1 year to 5 years), excepted for irritability
significantly increased after 5 years. Other electromagnetic factors
(electrical transformers, radio-television transmitters,.) have effects
on the frequency of some symptoms reported by the subjects.

Possible associations between ELF electromagnetic fields, DNA damage
response processes and childhood leukaemia

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Epidemiology has shown an association between exposure to extremely low
frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields (EMF) and childhood leukaemia.
The causal nature and biological basis of this association are however
questionable. Studies with aneuploid cell lines raised the hypothesis
that ELF EMF may act as a coleukaemogen by compromising DNA damage
response to genotoxic agents such as ionising radiation. We examined
this hypothesis using gamma-ray-induced dicentric chromosome exchange in
human lymphocytes. The results from 12 h post-gamma-ray exposure to
fields of 0.23, 0.47 and 0.7 mT provide no support to the hypothesis.
The power of the study was sufficient to exclude an ELF enhancement of
chromosomal exchange of 10-15% (2SE).

Democrats Welcome High Court Refusal on 3G Roll Out
-----------------------------------------------------------
October 3, 2003

The office of Senator Lyn Allison

The Australian Democrats have welcomed today's refusal by the NSW High
Court to hear Hutchinson Telecommunications' appeal to install 3G
antennas on an existing pole at Oatley Park.

Democrat's Health Spokesperson Senator Lyn Allison said "This landmark
decision sets a major precedent regarding the roll out of 3G
infrastructure - nullifying the low impact clause of the
Telecommunications Act 1997.

"This means that 3G antennas will now be defined as high impact, and
therefore, from this point on, individual councils will have complete
authority over their siting.

"In Sydney alone, 540 antennas will be needed to complete the roll out.
Given that there are at least half a dozen other local community groups
across Australia opposing these antennas, today's decision constitutes a
major setback to current Federal Telecommunications laws.

"The decision comes as a new Dutch study reveals adverse health effects
from 3G antennas, such as headaches and nausea. Therefore, councils need
to think carefully before allowing these antennas to be installed near
residences, schools and other sensitive sites," Senator Allison added.

Senate Question on Notice:

Senator Allison asks the Minister for Health and Ageing.

I refer to the remarks attributed to Dr Colin Roy, director of the
non-ionising radiation branch of ARPNSA in the Herald Sun article today
titled Mobiles lacking radiation research and ask;
1. Does the Government intend to fund a replication of the Dutch study
in Australia?
2. If not, why and not?

The head of the Australian Centre for Radio Frequency Bioeffects
Research, Professor Irena Cosic, said Australia was lacking in research
into 3G phones because they were so new here. However, she said they
operated on a higher frequency than traditional mobiles, which should
theoretically make it more difficult for radiation to penetrate the
brain and body.

The centre intended to follow up Dutch research, she said. The Dutch
study raised concerns about the safety of antennas for new generation
high-speed video phones after finding they can cause headaches and nausea.

About 50,000 Australians have a 3G phone following telco Hutchison
Orange's launch in April. Hutchison has about 1600 antennas, or base
stations, all in city areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide,
Perth and the Gold Coast.

A study by the Dutch government and technological research institute TNO
compared radiation from base stations for the current mobile phone
network with base stations for 3G networks. "If the test group was
exposed to third-generation base station signals there was a significant
impact," the Dutch Economics Ministry said. "They felt tingling
sensations, got headaches and felt nauseous."

Dr Colin Roy, director of the non-ionising radiation branch of the
Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, said the
study was credible but needed replication. He said radiation from
transmitters was generally low and well within Australian safety standards.

Mobile phone exposure, while not the subject of the study, was much
higher, he said. "Phones actually do give the same sort of radiation but
at a much higher level and much closer to the standard." "Because of the
nature of the networks the emissions from the 3G towers are even lower
than the current digital ones." "But what we're talking about here
specifically is the tower, and of course that exposure occurs whether
you have a mobile phone or not."

Australia's mobile industry said there was no substantive evidence
mobiles caused headaches.
The executive director of the Mobile Carriers Forum, Tanya Stoianoff,
also noted advice from the World Health Organisation that said no recent
reviews had concluded exposure to radio frequency fields from mobile
phones and their base stations caused adverse health consequences. A
spokeswoman for Hutchison said the company did not wish to comment. - AAP

Melanoma Incidence and Frequency Modulation (FM) Broadcasting

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orjan Hallberg
Olle Johansson
Experimental Dermatology Unit, Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska
Institute, Stockholm Sweden

ABSTRACT. The incidence of melanoma has been increasing steadily in many
countries since 1960, but the underlying mechanism causing this increase
remains elusive. The incidence of melanoma has been linked to the
distance to frequency modulation (FM) broadcasting towers. In the
current study, the authors sought to determine if there was also a
related link on a larger scale for entire countries.

Exposure-time-specific incidence was extracted from exposure and
incidence data from 4 different countries, and this was compared with
reported age-specific incidence of melanoma. Geographic differences in
melanoma incidence were compared with the magnitude of this
environmental stress. The exposure-time-specific incidence from all 4
countries became almost identical, and they were approximately equal to
the reported age-specific incidence of melamona. A correlation between
melanoma incidence and the number of locally receivable FM transmitters
was found. The authors concluded that melanoma is associated with
exposure to FM broadcasting.

Comment from Dr Miguel Muntané

WHO “Delay Tactic” and world brain alteration
--------------------------------------------------
Remember: there is no clear understanding? Evidence becomes available:
BBB alteration documented since year 1972 (30 years duplicating studies)

Dear Miguel,

The most transparent sentence is: "To the best of my knowledge, no group
is seeking to delay this process". On this it was already said that "the
hat burns on the thief's head"

To move the issue of ES to "provision of advice in specific cases",
instead of recognizing it grows globally: higher and higher percent of
the population becomes sensitive because of the delay tactic of the WHO-
is a red herring, furthermore: while Dr. David Nabarro writes that the
ES phenomenon is "well recognized"- I want to mention that people who
suffer from it, are still misdiagnosed by doctors, and are still sent to
psychiatric institutes.

Maybe, if the WHO had been less busy writing booklets on "how to deal
with public perception" and instead had started to deal with public
health for a change, it would have had the time to publish a booklet for
the doctors in the world, which explains them what the ES is at all.
What about a media announcement that informs the world that there is
actually such a thing?

They just don't know it. So what does it help the world population that
Dr David Nabarro knows the symptoms of ES ?

About the precautionary approach the WHO claims to support - if they
truly seek precaution, why does Dr. Repacholi resist to the idea of
countries having lower radiation standards? Why did he say to Dr. Louis
Slesin that he still can't agree with Stewart Committee about preventing
children from talking on the cell phone? (published in microwave news
March/April 2003).

What precautionary approach is he talking about? Is he dreaming? This
organization is misleading the world in an unforgivable way. People are
dying all over the world because of the precaution approach of the WHO.
If this letter sounds harsh, it is because I meet and hear lately about
people in their 30's that are diagnosed with brain tumors at the same
place they put the antennas for several years and now, after they are
diagnosed, they are taken to participate in research here in an Israeli
hospital.

This research is not looking for the connection to the cellular phone,
but for link between occupation and cancer, another red herring! It
means that the future sick people are going to be used for research.
This is how their lives are planned, and the WHO is a very, how to say
it in the words they use it in their "risk communication" chapter in
their booklet- a very big shareholder in this process.

All the Best
Iris Atzmon

Bioactivity of G3 signals
-------------------------
Hi Don,

Its interesting that the 3G signal should be immediately bioactive at
levels of exposure one gets from tower antennas.

The industry had said that the very short wavelength of 3G signal would
be absorbed in the first few millimeters of skin, so that no bioeffects
would register. Even knowing that it would all be dumped directly at one
layer of the body, rather than having deeper and more diffuse
penetration of the longer wavelengths as moderated by the type and shape
of body structures and tissues.

Perhaps they didn't take into account that a few millimeters of skin
penetration allows that discordant "information" or "direction" to the
body's interior via blood and lymph cells circulating in those first
layers... or neurotransmitters that take the "off-key" message all over
the body once registered in nerve cells in the skin. And, what of the eyes?

These frequencies are discordant with the normal frequencies the body
requires for regulation of growth and circadian rhythms. They obliterate
and confuse the natural frequencies on which the body depends for its
proper functioning. No wonder nausea and headache.

Dear Don

The industry had said that…..?

It is not necessary to study the “Microwave Syndrome” in 3G, I suggest
to study only the successful “Repacholi Syndrome”.

First contaminate, and never investigate the health alteration before
any contamination, just to count the number of dead people and
ten-twenty.. years after “to try to understand” the possibility of
hypothetical cancer relationship.

Is this false scientific method the future?

Best regards

Miguel Muntané

and

Dear Miguel,

I suggest to investigate the Repacholi Syndrome in the international
court for human rights.
I suggest the main investigator of this syndrome will be Peter Angelos.
I just wonder how many dead bodies the court needs to call it "a crime
against humanity".

Best,
Iris.
