Wyoming Wild Horse Herd On Brink Of Starvation
Washington, DC — Citing the threat of imminent starvation, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management has announced an emergency removal of all wild horses from northwest Wyoming, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).
Bush Administration Hacks Dunes Endangered Species Critical Habitat By 60%
WASHINGTON DC -- Conservationists learned today that the final designation of critical habitat for the Peirson's milkvetch will be only 21,800 acres after being cut nearly 60% by Craig Manson, a Bush anti-conservation political appointee with the Interior Department in Washington DC.
Court Fines Bush Administration Desert Species Permit Illegal
SAN FRANCISCO -- In a major victory for desert tortoise and other endangered species recovery in the California desert, federal judge Susan Illston yesterday struck down biological opinions (permits) issued by the Bush administration’s Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) that authorized extensive cattle grazing and off-road vehicle use within the 4.1 million acres of critical desert tortoise habitat located in the California Desert Conservation Area.
Federals Consider Protection For Imperiled Cherry Point Herring
BELLINGHAM – The National Marine Fisheries Service announced today that it will conduct a status review to determine if Cherry Point herring deserve federal protection under the Endangered Species Act. The announcement comes after an 8 month review initiated when a coalition of conservation groups filed a petition requesting federal protection for the herring.
Scientific Fraud Condemns Panther to Extinction
According to one of its own scientists, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) is knowingly using flawed science in assessing the habitat and population of the endangered Florida panther. Read the letter and sign the petition in support of sientific integrity at FWS.
