On November 2, you can exercise one of your most important rights: casting your vote for president and local leaders. With this year’s presidential election slated to be a close call, every vote matters. That’s why 20/20 Vision is calling on ALL of our members to get to the polls!

In 2000, only 51% of Americans showed up to vote. Youth turnout has also declined by a third since the government granted 18-21 year-olds the right to vote in 1972. These statistics are alarming, given that so many people in this country, particularly African Americans and women, fought long and hard for their right to vote.

Democracy only works if we all do our part. We know you have a busy life, but this is one of the most tangible ways that you can help influence your country’s direction!

We’ve provided a few important pointers and resources so you know what to do and where to go on Election Day. These and other resources can be found at our web site

What to Bring:

Bring photo identification such as a driver’s license and something indicating your address. Ask your local election office about state specific rules.

Where to Vote:

Voting usually occurs in a public building such as a school, library, fire station or city hall. You can contact your local election office for more information. Often you’ll receive something in the mail telling you where your polling station is located. You can visit this website to find your polling site.

When To Vote:

Go between the hours of 10am and 5pm if you want to avoid the long lines! Also check with your local election office to find out the time allotted by your employer for voting.

How to Get Others to Vote
True Majority has created an easy volunteer opportunity for folks that want to encourage newly registered voters to get to polling stations. True Majority gives you the tools, and all you have to do is call a few people from your own home and tell them why it's so important to vote. Click here for more info.
